About Your Trip

Take snorkeling to a whole new level and try your hand at catching lobsters. We'll go to some great lobster hiding spots, you'll get the lowdown on how to hunt them down and catch them, and then it's on you to snorkel about, find them, and make it happen for dinner!

The snorkel spots will be in 3 to 6 feet of water close to shore and can be up to 10 miles from the
marina. It typically takes 20-25 minutes to get to the first location. Depending on how the lobstering goes, we may move around to several different spots to get you the best chances for catching the most "bugs" as we affectionately call them here down in the Keys.

If your group has any non-snorkelers, no problem. The boat has a lot of shade for hanging out and enjoying the entertainment in watching the others get OCD on lobsters.

And speaking of the boat, shade is just one of the many amenities that make for a comfortable trip. The Dauntless has ample space for your crew to relax comfortably, a cabin for changing and stowing your gear, a cooler with ice for your beverages, a marine head (toilet) for "just in case", and a livewell to keep your lobsters fresh all the way back to the dock.

When we get back, the Capt will separate the lobster tails for you or can take your lobsters whole, however you prefer.

Note that trips are for up to 6 passengers and the full balance is due within 7 days of trip date. If the captain has to cancel for mechanical or weather, you get a 100% refund.

Independent Guide
I originally came to the Florida Keys to expand my business, including buying a larger boat for chartering and to more fully enjoy being out on the water. I particularly love reef fishing and lobstering. I'm a bit of an adventure junkie, always looking to explore and enjoy what the Keys has to offer. What makes it even better is sharing the fun and adventure with others.

How I came to be where I am today is quite the story,
but the short version is having a lifetime of boating in my blood and salt water in my veins. I spent 20 years working in large corporations in human resources with chartering as mostly a side gig until I opted for a better life and followed the bouncing ball to the lower Keys in Florida. I have been operating my latest boat for a number of years now out of Stock Island, just spitting distance from downtown Key West, an ideal starting point for a wide variety of activities.

On every trip guests are greeted by first mate Siba, a Parson Russell Terrier, who is a bit of an attention hog and an active snorkel and fishing watchstander. She'll otherwise be as chill as the casual vibe you'll find.

When you book a trip you'll get the standard auto-reply message but also a personal message from the captain, usually within 12 hours of booking, just to touch base, more quickly if it's a short-notice booking. If you booked well in advance, we'll be touching base a day or so before the trip with a reminder on everything you need to know to be prepared.

Once at the dock and aboard the boat, a quick safety spiel covers everything you need to know to have a safe and enjoyable trip, and then we're off to start the adventure.

Rapid Fire Guide Q & A

What’s the biggest fish you’ve caught?
Kingfish
If you were cooking for all your friends what would you cook?
Steak. I don't eat any seafood!
What’s your favorite band?
Billy Joel
What’s your favorite movie?
Goonies
What’s your favorite sports team?
I don't follow any sports, I'm WAY too busy for any of that!
What’s your drink of choice?
Anything fruity
What was your last halloween costume?
It was during Fantasy Fest in Key West, FL. I can't tell you but I will say no one recognized me. 😇
What do you want for Christmas this year?
Good question. My family doesn't do Christmas gifts so I don't give it any thought. I think the last time I received one was 10 years ago from my ex-husband. I don't even remember what it was.
How did you get started guiding?
I got my captain's license in 2003 to add credibility for the hands-on boat handling instruction I provided on the side. Then I added wedding elopement charters on my boat, some sandbar trips and sunset cruises. It wasn't until I quit the day job that I went fulltime on the water.
What makes you different from other guides?
I'm like a blue crab that moves sideways, granted my birthsign is Cancer but that doesn't really matter much. The popular reference to things being sideways is always negative, but is it really? I say sideways is a good thing. Sideways is not being "off," it's more like running with whatever reality throws at you because it rarely follows a prescribed path. That means I roll with whatever my guests want to do so long as it's not unsafe, illegal or immoral. Oh... but it has to be within reason and FUN. I don't do "not fun." Seriously. You better fully expect any negativity coming aboard resulting in walking the plank - after I chum for sharks.
