About Your Trip

Step into a world of untouched beauty and thrilling adventure as you fish the pristine waters of Coiba National Park with the legendary Captain Tom. Nestled in the remote waters of Panama, this UNESCO World Heritage Site is a hidden gem for anglers seeking trophy fish and unparalleled scenery. With over 30 years of experience, Captain Tom knows these government-protected waters like the back of his hand, ensuring every trip is filled with excitement, big bites, and breathtaking views.

Explore the Untamed Waters of Coiba National Park
Coiba National Park is a fishing paradise, home to 34 islands and countless underwater reefs, pinnacles, and rocky structures teeming with life. Located near the edge of the Continental Shelf, these waters are constantly replenished by nutrient-rich ocean currents, attracting an incredible variety of species, from Blue and Black Marlin to Yellowfin Tuna, Wahoo, and Cubera Snapper. With commercial fishing prohibited here, the park offers a rare and pristine environment where gamefish flourish—and you won’t have to compete with other boats. In fact, you may not see another soul all day!

Fishing here isn’t just about the catch—it’s about the entire experience. Cruise alongside uninhabited islands, fish near towering rocky cliffs, and marvel at the vibrant marine life that calls this remote paradise home. Whether you’re trolling for Marlin, jigging for Snapper, or casting poppers for Roosterfish, every cast feels like an adventure.

Fish in Comfort and Classic Style
Your journey takes place aboard Captain Tom’s 31’ Bertram sportfishing boat, a timeless vessel designed to dominate these waters. Recently updated for peak performance and comfort, the boat features:
- A spacious fishing cockpit with a fighting chair
- Six built-in tuna tubes for live bait
- Double spreader outriggers, a marlin tower, and gin pole for expert trolling
- Twin turbocharged diesel engines for power and reliability
- Inside, the boat is outfitted with plenty of shade and comfortable seating, perfect for long days on the water. The fishing gear is just as impressive, with a full arsenal of classic Fin-Nor rods and reels, meticulously maintained to handle everything from light tackle to heavy-duty marlin fights.

Your Ultimate Fishing Adventure
Each trip with Captain Tom is carefully tailored for anglers of all skill levels. Whether you’re a seasoned pro or casting your first line, you’ll have the chance to target some of the ocean’s most sought-after gamefish, including:
- Marlin (Blue & Black)
- Yellowfin Tuna
- Cubera Snapper
- Wahoo
- Roosterfish
- Dorado (Mahi Mahi)
- And dozens more!

Thanks to Coiba’s unique geography, you’re always fishing near islands, even when targeting pelagic species like Marlin and Tuna. There’s no need for long runs into open ocean—the action is close by, and you’re surrounded by stunning island views no matter where you fish.

Complete Panama Fishing Experience
This isn’t just a fishing trip; it’s a full immersion into the beauty and adventure of Panama. Your experience includes:
- Round-trip transportation between David Airport and Pixvae
- Waterfront air-conditioned accommodations, overlooking the dock
- All meals and refreshments, including a premium open bar onshore and plenty of cold beer onboard
- Half-day fishing charters upon arrival and before departure
- All rods, reels, bait (live bait when available), tackle, poppers, and jigs

Captain Tom and his first mate will handle everything so you can focus on the thrill of the chase. Whether you’re targeting big-game fish offshore or jigging for Snapper in the reefs, their expertise ensures you’ll have the best possible chance at landing the fish of a lifetime.

Best Time to Fish
For peak action and a wide variety of bites, plan your trip from June through November. During the rainy season, the waters come alive with activity, offering even more opportunities to hook into prized species like Wahoo, Marlin, and Yellowfin Tuna.
