About Your Trip

Step into a world of untouched beauty and thrilling adventure as you fish the pristine waters of Coiba National Park with the legendary Captain Tom. Tucked away in the remote waters of Panama, this UNESCO World Heritage Site is a hidden gem for anglers seeking trophy fish and stunning scenery.

Coiba National Park is a true fishing paradise. The park’s 34 islands, underwater reefs, rocky pinnacles, and nutrient-rich ocean currents create the perfect habitat for
an incredible variety of gamefish. From Blue and Black Marlin to Yellowfin Tuna, Cubera Snapper, Roosterfish, Wahoo, and Dorado, the waters here are alive with activity. Protected from commercial fishing, Coiba’s pristine conditions mean thriving fish populations and minimal fishing pressure. It’s not uncommon to spend an entire day on the water without seeing another boat, allowing you to truly immerse yourself in this remote and untouched environment.

Fishing in Coiba isn’t just about trying to land your dream catch—it’s about the entire experience. You’ll cruise along uninhabited islands, fish near towering rocky cliffs, and marvel at the vibrant marine life that thrives in these waters. Coiba’s unique geography also means the action is close by. Even when targeting offshore species like Marlin and Tuna, you’re never far from the islands, which surround you with breathtaking views at every turn.

The fishing experience is elevated further by Captain Tom’s vessel, a 31-foot Bertram sportfishing boat. Designed to dominate these waters, the boat has been carefully updated to maximize performance and comfort. With a spacious cockpit featuring a fighting chair, six built-in tuna tubes, double spreader outriggers, a marlin tower, and twin turbocharged diesel engines, this classic sportfishing machine is equipped to handle everything from high-speed trolling to close-quarter battles with reef-dwelling giants. Inside, the boat offers plenty of shade and comfortable seating, perfect for long days on the water. Captain Tom ensures the fishing gear is just as impressive, providing a full arsenal of meticulously maintained Fin-Nor rods and reels, suitable for everything from light tackle to heavyweight Marlin fights.

Whether you’re a seasoned pro or new to the sport, Captain Tom tailors each trip to your skill level and preferences. Coiba’s waters are home to some of the ocean’s most sought-after species, including Blue and Black Marlin, whose presence near the islands makes for thrilling battles; Yellowfin Tuna, known for their powerful runs and topwater strikes; and Cubera Snapper, the ultimate reef predator and a bucket-list catch for many anglers. You’ll also have the chance to target Wahoo, Dorado, Roosterfish, and countless other species.

Your adventure doesn’t end with the fishing. This all-inclusive experience is designed to fully immerse you in the beauty and excitement of Panama. From the moment you arrive, Captain Tom and his team handle every detail, ensuring a seamless trip. Round-trip transportation is provided between David Airport and Pixvae, where you’ll stay in waterfront accommodations overlooking the dock. Your air-conditioned villa offers comfort and convenience, while all meals and refreshments are included—whether it’s freshly prepared dishes served onshore or ice-cold beer enjoyed onboard.

To make the most of your time in Coiba, half-day fishing charters are included on both your arrival and departure days, in addition to the full-day excursions. All fishing gear is provided, from rods and reels to bait, tackle, poppers, and jigs. With Captain Tom’s expertise and the assistance of his first mate, you can focus entirely on the thrill of the chase while they take care of everything else, including rigging gear, preparing live bait (when available), filleting your catch, and anything else you need.

For those looking to experience peak fishing conditions, the rainy season from June through November is the ideal time to visit. During this period, the waters surrounding Coiba come alive with activity, offering unparalleled opportunities to hook prized species like Wahoo, Marlin, and Yellowfin Tuna. The rains are typically brief and localized, meaning calm mornings of fishing with occasional afternoon showers.

Captain Tom brings a level of expertise and professionalism that sets this trip apart. With over three decades of experience in Coiba’s waters, he knows where to find the fish and how to keep you on them. Fishing in Coiba is more than just a trip—it’s a journey into one of the most pristine marine environments in the world. From battling trophy Marlin offshore to exploring reefs for Cubera Snapper and Roosterfish, this is a bucket-list adventure that anglers of all experience levels will treasure forever. Captain Tom and his team invite you to join them for the fishing trip of a lifetime in Panama’s Coiba National Park, where untouched beauty meets world-class fishing.
