About Your Trip

Fishing with Captain Alex on North Texas’ premier lakes isn’t just a trip—it’s a handcrafted outdoor experience where epic bass and breathtaking wildlife meet. Lake Fork is home base, famous for its monster largemouth and legendary status among bass anglers. But whether you're casting lines on Fork, Tawakoni, Holbrook, or Bob Sandlin, every outing is packed with potential. You’re not only chasing big fish—you’re immersed in nature. It’s common to spot bald eagles soaring overhead, ospreys diving for fish, or catch glimpses of deer, wild hogs, beavers, and even alligators along the shoreline. Every cast comes with a front-row seat to Texas’ wild beauty.

Alex’s primary focus is fly fishing, and he’ll have custom, hand-tied flies designed specifically for these lakes ready for you. But if you prefer a spin rod or want to switch things up, he’s more than happy to bring along light tackle options. No matter your style, Alex will tailor the day to fit your skills and goals.

You’ll be fishing from a 20' center console boat that comfortably fits two anglers and your guide. Built for stability and precision on the water, the boat offers a smooth platform for fly casting or conventional techniques. It’s also a non-smoking, drug- and alcohol-free vessel, so everyone stays safe and focused on the experience. For your safety and comfort, please review all boat rules and protocols ahead of time—Alex’s number one priority is ensuring an enjoyable, worry-free day on the water.

The trip starts at first safe light and runs for approximately 5–6 hours. Water is provided on ice, and all fishing gear—including fly rods and tackle—is included. You’re welcome to bring your own gear if you prefer, but don’t worry about forgetting anything: Alex has you covered with top-tier equipment to help you make the most of your day.

To ensure your comfort, bring a valid Texas freshwater fishing license, and come dressed for the elements. Wear comfortable footwear (closed-toe shoes recommended—skip the sandals), polarized sunglasses for better visibility and eye protection, and sun protection like SPF 50+ sunscreen, a wide-brim hat, and lightweight, UV-protective clothing. A neck gaiter is also a great choice for extra sun coverage.

Please also inform Alex in advance if you have any physical limitations or are unable to swim. Safety is taken seriously, and trips may be canceled or cut short if conditions become unsafe due to weather or other factors—your well-being always comes first.

Whether you’re hunting personal best bass, learning new fly techniques, or just looking for a peaceful escape in the Texas wilderness, Book a trip with Captain Alex!

Independent Guide
Born and raised in Dallas, Texas, my journey with fly fishing began at the age of 10 when my Great Uncle Paul introduced me to the sport in Gunnison, Colorado. That initial experience ignited a passion that has only grown stronger over the years.

Even as a young boy, I dedicated myself to learning, saving money from mowing yards to purchase my first fly fishing reel. While living in Dallas presented its challenges for practicing the sport, I persisted, honing
my skills through years of conventional bass fishing. Eventually, my passion for fly fishing became all-consuming, leading me to dedicate myself fully to the sport.

For the past 15 years, I have been self-teaching and studying, immersing myself in every aspect of fly fishing. This dedication has transformed into an obsessive passion, one that I am now eager to share with others through guiding and teaching.
Although I am not a trained casting instructor, I can help most folks with the basics of fly casting and work closely and patiently with beginners young and old.

Beyond my technical skills, I am a family man, happily married to my wife, Mary, for over 40 years. We have a son, Jon, and live peacefully on Lake Fork. I believe my patience, dedication, and genuine love for fly fishing make me an ideal candidate for this position.

Thank you for your time and consideration.
