About Your Trip

If you're looking to hook into one of the biggest, baddest freshwater fish in Texas, Rich’s Alligator Gar Trips are your ticket to a true river monster experience. With a lifelong passion for chasing giants and a deep knowledge of North Texas waters, Rich offers guided trips that put you face-to-face with these prehistoric beasts in some of the most productive spots around.

Rich guides alligator gar trips across a variety of lakes, rivers, creeks,
and backwaters—including legendary gar grounds like the Trinity River, Lake Worth, Eagle Mountain, Lake Lewisville, and beyond. Whether you’re targeting the shallows during spawning season or setting up along deep river bends, Rich knows how to find the fish and get them to bite.

These trips are all about patience, power, and adrenaline. Gar fishing requires a mix of precision and persistence, and Rich brings the right combination of gear, strategy, and hands-on instruction to help you land a true giant. Whether you’re casting, drifting, or soaking baits, you'll be using top-quality rods, reels, and tackle, with state-of-the-art electronics to locate fish and dial in the setup.

Every trip includes all necessary fishing equipment, safety gear, and expert guidance on how to fight and land these hard-hitting fish. Rich is fully insured and committed to providing a safe, exciting experience for anglers of all skill levels. If you’re new to gar fishing, he’ll walk you through everything—from how to handle the gear to understanding the behavior of these powerful predators.

You’ll want to bring your Texas freshwater fishing license, ice and a small cooler for your catch, sunblock, sunglasses, drinks, snacks, and weather-appropriate clothing. Alcohol is welcome in moderation—just leave the glass bottles at home.

These alligator gar trips aren’t just fishing—they’re an adventure. So if you’re ready to go toe-to-toe with a living fossil and test your strength against one of North America’s most impressive freshwater predators, book a trip with Rich and get ready for a battle you won’t forget.
