About Your Trip

Head offshore into the Gulf on a true deepwater run targeting hard-fighting American Red Snapper along with a wide variety of prized reef species. These trips run 50 to 80 miles out, giving you access to productive bottom structure, ledges, and wrecks where some of the best fishing in the region takes place.

While Red Snapper are the main focus, you’ll also have opportunities to target Amberjack, Cobia, Kingfish, Barracuda, Blackfin Tuna, and several types
of Grouper including Gag, Red, Scamp, Black, and even the occasional Goliath. Lane Snapper and other reef species often keep rods bent, so there’s usually steady action throughout the day.

Fishing techniques will vary based on conditions and what’s biting, but you can expect a mix of heavy tackle bottom fishing, drifting, trolling, jigging, and spinning. Captain John stays dialed in on current patterns and will adjust the approach as needed to keep you on fish and make the most of your time offshore.

These long-range trips are designed for anglers who want to maximize time on productive grounds, and the run out is part of the experience. Whether you’re experienced or brand new to offshore fishing, Captain John and his mate are there to help with everything from baiting hooks to landing fish. Kids are welcome aboard, making this a great option for families looking to experience offshore fishing together.

You’ll be fishing aboard a 34’ Sea Craft center console, restored in 2024 and powered by twin 300HP Mercury engines. The boat comfortably accommodates up to 6 anglers and is equipped with GPS, fishfinder, radar, outriggers, and a live bait well to stay on top of the action.

All rods, reels, tackle, and live bait are included in the trip. When available, live bait will be netted, and shrimp is also provided. At the end of the day, your catch will be cleaned and bagged so it’s ready to take home.

There’s no need to purchase a fishing license, as it’s covered with the trip. Be sure to bring sunscreen (non-spray), sunglasses, snacks, and drinks for the day. Alcohol is allowed in moderation, but avoid glass bottles and hard liquor. A 20% tip for the mate is customary and appreciated for good service.

If you’re looking to get far offshore, fish productive structure, and target one of the Gulf’s most sought-after species, this trip offers a full day of serious fishing and time well spent on the water.
