If you’re short on time but still want to get in on the action, Captain Steve’s 5-hour bay fishing trip out of Cruz de Huanacaxtle is the perfect way to reel in some fun without venturing too far offshore. With space for up to 6 anglers, this half-day trip is ideal for families, first-timers, or anyone looking to experience the thrill of fishing beautiful Bahía de Banderas.

During your outing, you’ll be targeting a solid lineup of inshore and nearshore favorites including Jack Crevalle, Spanish Mackerel, Skipjack Tuna, and smaller Mahi Mahi. These fish are aggressive, fast, and guaranteed to put up a good fight—perfect for keeping rods bent and energy high throughout the trip.

You’ll be fishing aboard Captain Steve’s well-equipped 28’ Bertram sportfisher, featuring all the essentials like a live bait tank, outriggers, tuna tubes, and plenty of shaded space. The cabin includes a bed, kitchen, and private toilet, offering comfort and convenience for guests of all ages.

All fishing gear, bait, and tackle are included, and Captain Steve is great with kids and beginners, making this a family-friendly trip that still delivers serious fun. Bring your favorite snacks and drinks (beer is welcome!), and let the crew handle the rest—including fish cleaning at the end of your trip.

Please note there’s a $40 USD port fee per boat, payable at the dock before departure.

All gear is included, but we also recommend bringing sunglasses, sunscreen, weather-appropriate clothing, and any gear of your own you want to use on the trip. Port fee not included $40 USD per boat

You're all set! You don't need to buy a license for this trip.

This trip is managed by an outfitter. Steve will be your point of contact and you will go out with one of their guides.

We use a cashless autopay system. We'll send you a boarding pass, and on the day of the trip, your guide will scan your boarding pass to automatically transfer the remaining balance. The only cash needed is to tip your guide (we recommend 20%).

Cancel for free up to 60 days before the trip and receive credit back to your account. Cancelling within 60 of the trip will forfeit your deposit to the guide. Day-of cancellations and no-shows will be charged the full balance of the trip to their card.

In the event of inclement weather you'll be covered by out 100% Weather Guarantee and will not lose your deposit.

Captain Experience has not disappointed us yet. This is the second trip of have used them on first in Cancun and now in Puerto Vallarta both times with kids. This trip was everything we could ask for. Once you've paid your deposit at checkout, we'll send you a QR Code boarding pass. Just show your guide your boarding pass on the day of the trip, they'll scan it, the remaining balance will transfer automatically, and you'll be all set to get out there. Just make sure you bring a cash tip for the guide!

In the event of inclement weather, our guides will check the conditions and make the final call on whether its safe to go on the trip. If they decide the trip needs to be postponed, we'll work closely with you to reschedule or provide a credit for the full deposit, which can be applied to any of our trips in the US and beyond.

Each trip's price is determined by the guide and reflects all associated costs. A significant factor in pricing is often the type of boat and the corresponding fuel expenses. Additional costs may include leases, marina or slip fees, and the expenses involved in providing and maintaining the necessary gear for your trip.
