About Your Trip

Picture the boat slicing through pre‑dawn fog as you chase the first pink glow of sunrise over the open Pacific. The air tastes of salt and possibility. You’ve rigged up your rods with heavy‑action spinning gear, bright hoochies and flashers dancing just beneath the surface—no downriggers needed. As you troll at a steady clip, your line hums through the water, searching for the telltale chrome glint of a salmon on the prowl.

Suddenly, your rod
tip jerks hard, then loads up in an instant. You set the hook and the fight erupts—your reel’s drag snarls as a powerful Chinook peels line in a furious run. The rod arches into a graceful bow as you dig your heels into the deck, heart pounding. This is king salmon fishing at its finest: long, surging runs, head‑shaking dives, and the pure thrill of wrestling a 20‑plus‑pound giant back to the boat.

No sooner have you slipped that Chinook into the cradle than you’re back to the chase, lines in the water again. The morning sun burns off the mist, and the ocean’s glassy surface shimmers. Then—bam!—another strike, this time a feisty Coho salmon, its silver flank flashing as it rockets skyward in a spectacular airborne leap. Coho fight with a lightning‑quick aggression, ripping line and darting sideways, testing your reflexes and resolve.

All around you, seabirds wheel in anticipation, and distant whales blow plumes against the horizon. Every strike is an adrenaline surge; every landed fish, a triumph against the vast, wild Pacific. Whether it’s the brute power of a Chinook or the acrobatic fury of a Coho, salmon fishing these waters delivers an unforgettable rush—rod in hand, ocean beneath you, and the open sea full of promise.

Tom is a proud graduate of South Umpqua High School in Myrtle Creek, Oregon. In 2007, he answered the call to serve and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, where he spent six years as a helicopter mechanic, working on some of the most advanced aircraft in the military. His time in the Marines not only sharpened his technical skills but also forged a deep sense of discipline, resilience, and commitment.

In 2013, after an intense 11-month battle with
bone cancer, Tom was medically retired from active duty. Despite the hardships he faced during that time, he emerged with a renewed passion for the outdoors and a drive to keep moving forward.

Fishing has been a constant thread throughout Tom’s life — from his early days casting lines in the high-mountain reservoirs of Colorado to exploring the vast, untamed waters of the Pacific Ocean. His love for fishing runs deep, shaped by both adventure and healing, and it continues to be one of his greatest passions.
