About Your Trip

Step aboard with Captain Stuart for an adrenaline-filled offshore tuna fishing charter out of Port Mansfield, Texas, where the Gulf comes alive with some of the most exciting action the region has to offer. This is a specialized offshore experience focused on targeting hard-charging pelagic species, with a strong emphasis on fishing behind shrimp boats where bait and predators naturally concentrate.

The primary target on this trip is blackfin tuna, known for their speed, endurance,
and aggressive feeding behavior. Once located, the action heats up quickly as chum is deployed to bring the tuna up behind the boat, creating fast-paced surface feeding activity. Anglers then pitch live and artificial baits directly into the frenzy, resulting in explosive hookups and nonstop rod-bending action.

While blackfin tuna are the main focus, these waters often produce a wide range of additional offshore species. Depending on conditions, you may also encounter mahi-mahi, wahoo, kingfish, sharks, and even larger pelagic visitors such as yellowfin tuna and sailfish. Every trip is different, and the opportunity for surprise catches keeps the excitement high throughout the day.

Fishing behind shrimp boats is what sets this trip apart. These working vessels attract bait and predators, creating a natural feeding zone that tuna and other gamefish actively patrol. By positioning in the right areas and using proven chumming techniques, Captain Stuart puts you directly in the middle of the action where fish are feeding aggressively near the surface.

This specialized tuna season typically runs from July 22 through November, depending on when the fish begin to move out of the area. During this window, conditions can produce some of the most consistent and exciting offshore action available in the region.

Captain Stuart focuses on maximizing every opportunity, working the water carefully and adjusting tactics based on where the bite is strongest. From the first slick of chum to the final hooked tuna of the day, this is a high-energy offshore experience built for anglers who want nonstop action and the thrill of fishing right in the middle of feeding fish.
