About Your Trip

If you plan on fishing in Morehead City, look no further than Captain Mark and his team. Having logged many hours on these tides, Captain Mark knows them forwards and back.

Wahoo, Mahi Mahi, Blackfin Tuna, Red Snapper, Amberjack, Spanish Mackerel, Vermilion Snapper, and more can be found in these waters if you cast your line at the right time of year. On the day of your trip you’re likely to troll and bottom fish
using light or heavy tackle.

You’ll be welcome aboard a 27’ Cape Horn center console with space for 6 passengers. It has outriggers, downriggers, and a full complement of safety gear including EPIRB, PLB, and Sirius XM Weather. All the essentials necessary for a fun, safe, and productive day of fishing. There’s a toilet on board for your convenience. Your captain will provide rods, reels, and all the tackle for the day.

You will need to purchase a local fishing license before the trip. This information is usually available online, or you can ask the captain. Some species might be protected or require a tag to keep them, so make sure you know what to expect.

It’s never a bad idea to bring sunglasses, sunblock (non-spray), bottled water, and a hat. Dress appropriately for the weather. Even if it is clear there may be some spray so wet weather gear is not a bad idea. Alcohol is allowed in moderation, but try to avoid hard liquor as well as glass bottles.

I grew up fishing both freshwater and saltwater in North Carolina. Living on the Great Lakes exposed me to a different fishery. Previous to returning home to North Carolina, I spent many years fishing in Southern California for all kinds of Pelagic species. I bring all the things that I have learned from these vastly different fisheries to bear when we fish the North Carolina coastal and offshore waters.
