October Fishing Report continues to be Red Hot as the waters cool!
If you want a redfish, now is the time for fishing in Naples! Redfish of all sizes, from giant over-slot fish to keepers, and even the little pups, are biting all over the mangroves around Naples. As the waters have cooled, we haven't had to resort to cut bait to sit and wait for them either. They are happily eating live pilchards, which are easily caught with the cast net at the start of the trip. One keeper redfish can feed several people, and they are highly regarded...

One keeper redfish can feed several people, and they are highly regarded tablefare blacked or grilled on the 'half shell'.
In addition to redfish, the snook, mangrove snapper, jack crevalle, and fun-sized tarpon are actively feeding on the pilchards too, which keeps the fishing trip totally busy.
The snook have been running from the small fun-to-catch sizes to the big line-ripping escape wizards of the mangroves. October means snook season is in full swing, so any slot snook is fair game for the table! And anyone who knows, knows! Snook are one of the finest eating fish in all of Florida!
Mangrove fishing in October is also red hot! We are routinely bringing back a dozen or more big fat keeper mangrove snapper on every charter. These feisty fighters are also considered to be one of the best eating fish in the sea as well, and are great blackened or fried.
The fun-sized tarpon seem to be everywhere right now, and provide some of the most explosive excitement of the day, anytime we hook one.

The water temperatures have been starting to cool, ever so slightly, the bait is all over the beaches, and the fish in the back country are responding with vigorous appetites! The afternoon rains that have been very consistent have fired up the tarpon bite, and pushed those fun size tarpon down from the remote, tree covered creeks, into waters we can get baits to em!
If you want a snook, we are catching 20-30 each trip...mostly small, in the 20-24 inch size, with big slot sized chunks mixed in. That's non stop action...

Mixed in with those snook are countless mangrove snappers. These delicious fighters can add up quickly for anyone in the mood to eat what they catch.
Redfish are certainly eating, and the cooler waters have them ready to chase live bait again, as are some really nice spotted seatrout.
The funsized tarpon are my favorite fish to catch this time of year. Catching 20 to 30 pound fish, tail walking, jumping 4 feet in the air, and just being a light tackle menace is what it's all about!
Don't forget, in another 8 days, snook will be in season to keep, and there isn't a better fish to eat in all of Florida, so don't hesitate to call or book a trip if you want to get out on the water for a morning or afternoon of non stop fishing action, along with the chance for a trophy, or some flat out excellent table fare. All within minutes of the boat ramp!

Snook fishing has been excellent all summer, and I’ve been finding them in a variety of locations, from the passes and beaches to areas with strong current and structure. Overslot Redfish are in, big snook are here, lots of smaller tarpon in the 40lb class, snapper and goliath grouper are still plentiful. Lots of sharks and even some sawfish.

Naples inshore fishing in August is as interesting as it is hot! The hot summer spawning activity of the snook is slowing down, but there are plenty of big ones still around, as they spread out from the passes into their usual haunts. What gets interesting, is the big redfish start to show up with more predictability as they begin to gather up for their on spawning fun in the fall. In addition to the gamefish, the are lots and lots of mangrove snapper at just about every spot we fish, that can quickly load up the cooler and cleaning...
Naples inshore fishing for big snook in August, means fishing with big chunk of freshly cut threadfin herring, ladyfish, or mullet, under the mangroves, and patience. These fish will often stare at a piece of bait for a while, before finally decide to slurp it up. They are lazy, and want it fresh. if the angler is impatient, and keeps tugging and making the bait move, they will not eat it. Big fish know chunks of cut bait aren’t supposed to move! There are also plenty of snook in the passes, and under docks and other deep cutes, These fish want a nice medium sized pilchard or pinfish fed into their ambush point. There is nothing like that distinct thump when a snook hits that live bait!
