Early mornings have been prime for topwater action, with Reds crushing Zara Spooks and MirrOlure Top Dogs over shallow flats. As the sun gets higher, we’ve been switching to paddle tails in gold, root beer, and new penny, rigged on 1/8 to 1/4 oz jigheads for sight-casting fish cruising the oyster bars and creek mouths.

The big black seabass bite has been very good for the month of February! A few good triggerfish and vermilion snapper have been caught too! Consistent when the wind lays down and we can get out!

Tannic Water Adventures have reported successful sight fishing for redfish, especially during flood tides in grassy areas and low tides around mud flats. The cooler water clarity enhances visibility, making a stealthy approach and the use of finesse presentations, such as soft plastics or live shrimp, particularly effective. As waters continue to warm, redfish are expected to gravitate towards deeper structures and docks. In addition to redfish, other species like black drum, sheepshead, and speckled trout are actively biting. Anglers targeting the jetties with fiddler crabs and live shrimp have reported catching keeper-sized sheepshead, with some individuals weighing up to 6.5 pounds. The same areas have also yielded redfish and speckled seatrout.

Despite the Cold Weather Despite the weather being alittle chilly on some days the fishing has been pretty good. We have been getting some really nice redfish and speckled trout. On the days the weather was not freezing and we were able to get on the water the fish were willing to bite. Getting live shrimp has been challangingdue to the water temps, but mud minnows have worked just fine. Using the floating cork over structure has worked well. Also have been using a 1/4 ounce jighead on the bottom aslo produced.

As February rolls in, the warming trend is beginning to take effect in Jacksonville, pushing water temperatures up and signaling transitions in fish behavior. With air temperatures creeping into the low 80s°F, anglers should expect an uptick in activity across inshore, nearshore, and offshore waters. Inshore Fishing Redfish – Sight fishing for redfish remains strong, especially on the flood tides in the grass and during the low tide around mud flats. With the water clearing up due to cooler temperatures, a stealthy approach and finesse presentations (like soft plastics or live shrimp) are key. As the water warms, expect more redfish moving toward deeper structure and docks.

Captain Bill was awesome. He helped my daughter with strategies and techniques on how to catch spotted trout. He put us on fish and our target fish spotted trout we caught. We had a great day.

Not a good trip. Left feeling like a charter took advantage of tourist from out of state. Didn’t fish with li e bait, didn’t have options of fishing spots, and the last spot was refueling dock where boat was refueling while we were fishing. We could have fished off the shore without him at that spot.

Great Trip! I’m a seasoned fisherman but, I brought my sister and girlfriend. Captain Dave has two complete polywogs and me. He did a wonderful job educating the ladies on fishing and TOGETHER, they pulled in the largest fish on the trip! Great Time!

Captain Bill delivered a first class experience to a mixed crew of seasoned and novice anglers. He was able to connect with each of us in ways that made the trip memorable and kept all of us actively fishing throughout our six hour trip. I've booked trips across the Gulf Coast, Atlantic Florida, and the Caribbean, and Bill is among the best captains I've chartered. He is a talented and dedicated professional who works hard to put his crew on fish for an excellent value trip.

Great trip. Brian knows the marine ecology, and educated us about the various species caught at various times of the year. Oh, and the fishing was great. We caught enough Whiting for a large family and friends fish fry. Delicious!!
