WOW what a great way to start out the New Year fishing here off the coast of Fort Lauderdale.
Trolling the reefs has been a bit slow this January however when we ventured out just a little deeper between 200 and 400 hundred feet of water the black fin tunas
have been biting ok in the early hours of the day but seemed as we got into the afternoon hours they were biting real good.
Not real sure what happen but the last few years has been producing more and more Wahoo’s also mostly in the same depth as the black fins.
I’m pretty sure they are feeding on the black fins.
Not just us, but all the boats seem to be bring in more and more Wahoo this being the best year I’ve seen yet.
Also while the Mahi mahi are not really in season right now BUT this year they seem to be showing up way before spring and what a welcomed surprise this is always a great crowd pleaser.
The bottom fishing has been expectedly good this year as lone as we have a little north current. No current no good too much current no good BUT a knot to a knot and a half good I mean real good.
Catching the vermilion snappers reel good along with quite a few red snappers ranging from 8 to 20 pounds another great crowd pleaser. And the best new of all we are catching them in state waters so we get to harvest them.
And once again showing up early the Greater Amber Jack SEA DONKEYS, talk about a fight! We had seen many a man give up the rod before landing one of these 30 to 80 pounders.
However an unwelcomed catch nice groupers are also biting BUT Sad to say out of season.
Some times I think these fish know they get to be set free. LOL

Last week brought very windy conditions for our local waters, cool front passed through bringing 40 knot winds and showers.
Targeting snook was mainly done around leeward points and cuts due to the winds. Smal fish were caught near docks and drops offs. Live baits and DOA Curl tails bait
of choice.
Gusty winds made it fun for fly anglers, but that’s when night fishing comes into play. Dock lights and bridges areas to locate snook, tarpon and many other species. Small deciever flies and live baits get the bite.
Channels and drop offs offer a plethora of species for anglers to target using shrimp and small buck tail jigs. Snapper, drum, jacks, mackerel, and my other species put a bend in the rod.
Well that is the fishing reply for the past week, hope you all enjoyed. Remember you can’t catch them from the couch so get out there and get hooked up. Tight Lines!

Crappie are biting as well... some good ones too, slabs!! The senko bite and chatterbait bites getting hotter by the day for largemouth on okeechobee!! Local canals are doing well, even after the cold snap that caused a fish kill for cichlid species. Bass, peacock bass, and clown knifefish are all biting really well on both live bait and artificials."

January was a wild month hot, cold, windy, calm we experienced it all. So many different conditions led to many different species and situations to target fish. Lots of bent rods and smiles.
Snook fishing was great the past week lots of small fish but an abundance of them along
with multiple Spector snook being caught. Mangrove shorelines, docks and bridges all areas holding linesiders. Live baits, Rapala twitch baits and flies all got the snook hooked on the line.
Schools of jacks, mackerel, bluefish, blue runners and many other species made great rod bending action. Shrimp, bucktail jigs, DOA Terror Eyz and Rapala skitter walks all great lure choices.
Well that is the fishing report for the past week, hope you all enjoyed. Remember you can’t catch them from the couch, so get out there and get hooked up. Tight Lines!

We had a great day with Captain Justin. He communicated clearly well in advance, showed up exactly on time, and keeps his boat and gear in great condition. After a brief safety briefing and a few practice shots, we were off. Justin kept it fun the whole day and best of all, put us on the iguanas. We would do it again. Thanks!

We had a wonderful time with Edmond. He was very prepared for the trip and he did his best to make sure we had every opportunity to catch fish. The bite was tough to get today and we had a few hits that slipped the hook. The weather was perfect and we enjoyed ourselves. I would go with him again.

Capt Brian was fantastic. I took my two boys and we caught fish all day. Five different species of fish including 2 big clown knife fish. Capt was professional, knowledgeable and had everything we needed on the boat for a great day of fishing. I strongly recommend Capt Brian for a great day on the water.
