Last week brought very windy conditions for our local waters, cool front passed through bringing 40 knot winds and showers.
Targeting snook was mainly done around leeward points and cuts due to the winds. Smal fish were caught near docks and drops offs. Live baits and DOA Curl tails bait of choice.
Gusty winds made it fun for fly anglers, but that’s when night fishing comes into play. Dock lights and bridges areas to locate snook, tarpon and many other species. Small deciever flies and live baits get the bite.

Channels and drop offs offer a plethora of species for anglers to target using shrimp and small buck tail jigs. Snapper, drum, jacks, mackerel, and my other species put a bend in the rod.
Well that is the fishing reply for the past week, hope you all enjoyed. Remember you can’t catch them from the couch so get out there and get hooked up. Tight Lines!
It's spawn time in Okeechobee, waters high, Okeechobee is fishing small though. The fish are ganged up in certain areas. Good thing is, it's a really picturesque place to fish! Crappie are biting as well... some good ones too, slabs!! The senko bite and chatterbait bites getting hotter by the day for largemouth on okeechobee!! Local canals are doing well, even after the cold snap that caused a fish kill for cichlid species. Bass, peacock bass, and clown knifefish are all biting really well on both live bait and artificials."

January was a wild month hot, cold, windy, calm we experienced it all. So many different conditions led to many different species and situations to target fish. Lots of bent rods and smiles.
Snook fishing was great the past week lots of small fish but an abundance of them along with multiple Spector snook being caught. Mangrove shorelines, docks and bridges all areas holding linesiders. Live baits, Rapala twitch baits and flies all got the snook hooked on the line.

Okeechobee bass fishing is picking up,with some bigger females showing up in the reeds and under mats, the peacock bass in the inland lakes and canals, took a hit with the cold weather, resulting in some fish kills, but overall, still a bunch of them.clown knife fish have been very active also, the speckled perch on okeechobee have been doing god, kinda hit and miss with the higher water the lakes holding, but if you find them, you can catch them!!

Cold air! South Florida gets another cold blast, water temperatures dropped and the winds prevailed. Winter time fishing is full of ups and downs in the Palm Beaches. Slow down and stay persistent, you will catch fish.
Backwater fishing for snook always great areas to locate fish as water temperatures are typically warmer. Mangrove shorelines, muddy bottoms snook flock to these zones, live baits, small jigs and twitch baits all tactics to get the strike. Anglers can also target sea walls, docks and bridges working the bottom thoroughly with jigs and live baits dropped to the bottom.

Inlets and channels are holding tarpon on both sides of the tides. Live baits and jigs entice the tarpon to strike. Cleaner water on the high tide causes the tarpon to be finicky at times. Juvenile tarpon prevalent in the backwaters along mangrove shorelines, strike live baits and twitch baits worked slow near pot holes drop offs.
Flats, rock piles, and inshore wrecks great areas to target snapper, jacks, blue runners, drum and many other species. Shrimp and jigs both create rod bending action for anglers.

Jose was a great guy to spend the day with. Fishing was slow so we focused on iguanas. Could have filled up the boat with them if we had done our part. Did manage to catch a few fish too but the highlight was definitely the 🦎.
Had a great day with Captain Jose! We fished the Everglades and caught large mouth bass, cichlids, and even a peacock! Thanks Jose you are a great guide, very knowledgeable!
Brad was great captain and provided an awesome trip! He took the time to explain his rigs and allowed me to do more than just reel in the fish. I would not hesitate to go with Brad again
