Spring chinook have started to show up in the local rivers around Portland. Targeting them with trolling tactics has begun to work well. A herring behind a flasher works well. Fishing will continue to improve for these amazing fish over the next few weeks and coming months.

Monday the 2nd- excellent day out on a beautiful ocean out of Tillamook/Garibaldi. Limits of rock fish and some nice lingcod. Ended up with a bonus octopus. Caught a nice cabezon that we can't keep until July 1st. Excellent rock fishing/Lingcod through the middle of June and then I will start my ocean salmon fishing out of Astoria.

Winter steelhead fishing on the Cowlitz River in Washington state has been great. We're catching limits or near limits every day.

We were given a one day keeper sturgeon on February 16th. Had a great crew out and they will be going home with some sturgeon. I'm not sure when or if we will get another keeper day this year. But we can always catch and release these fun hard fighting fish.

Lingcod and rockfish have been excellent off the Oregon coast out of Garibaldi, Oregon. We have been getting limits of Lingcod and rockfish. The ocean has been beautiful out for January. Swimbaits, shrimp flys and herring have been our ticket to catching these fish.

Low water winter steelhead. Fishing has stayed consistent this winter with the best months ahead. We will be targeting winter steelhead through April and the best fishing is yet to come
