Captain Mike: South Padre Fishing Report. The bay fishing is on right now and should only get better throughout the next month. The shrimp and baitfish are migrating into our bay system and the fish are actively hunting them. The speckled trout and redfish are on the move looking for easy meals. This is in my opinion one of the best times of the year to target speckled trout with artificial baits and live baits. Typically the high spring winds will start to die off towards the end of May and early June. This weather combined with the influx of...

Typically the high spring winds will start to die off towards the end of May and early June. This weather combined with the influx of the spring bait migration leads to some good fishing. It's a great time to introduce the kids to some fishing action. Schools of black drum should also magically show up soon. My schedule is filling up for summer so you may want to pick some dates.
Cool weather means more bites at South Padre Island Texas.......
Follow the tides for the best chance on catching your targeted fish. Live bait works best. Live finger mullet produces bigger predatory fish.

Our day with Cliff was great. Our group was two dads with 2 seven year olds. The kids had the best time. They each caught a few fish and he was incredibly patient and kind with them as they learned. We will be back.
