The reds are running the passes, and we’ve found a couple of big schools of redfish. A gold spoon has been the ticket!
Trout are still holding in the heavy grass close to deep water, while the flounder are starting to make their move in.
The winds have been strong and tides have stayed high, but a late bite along the King Ranch shoreline helped us finish off our limits.

Fishing has been great lots of big trout and schools of reds showing up.

Red snapper, black grouper and Cobia have been great on cut bait,live bait, jigging rigs and 6" plastics.
Kingfish are hitting trolling lures. The water temperature continues to stay warm and the blue water is nearer to the shoreline this time of year.

Early morning fishing has been on fire a mix of everything speckled trout, redfish, flounder, and a few snook on artificials. Live shrimp has been scarce when available large numbers of black drum being caught on the icw. Looks like some good fishing the first week of October light North winds predicted should be a great week.

Fall Fishing is in full swing on South Padre Island. Rarely do I say this, but Fishing for all species has been unbelievable save for Tarpon off the beachfront which will likely push further south with the passing of today's cold front. If you have ever thought about making a trip down to this area, now is the time.

Captain Mikes South Padre Fishing Report 9/16/26. The bay fishing has been tougher throughout this past month. Water temperatures and overall weather has been hot! Still catching some solid speckled trout out of deeper water drop offs. Catching some flounder and reds. Most of the fish are hanging in the deepest water they can find. Typically we get rain and some weak northerly winds push through South Texas throughout September. Once temperatures start to drop I would suspect that the redfish will start cruising the grass flats in search of prey. The bite should only get better once the weather...

Fishing is getting good in Matagorda. Lots of tailing and schooling reds near deeper bars and reefs. Water temps have actually cooled down a little to the mid 80's. The best is yet to come with cooler weather during late September on into November. Let's go chase some reds!
