Fishing reports straight from our guides in Pensacola
Inshore: Flounder are being found around inlets, sandy cuts, docks, bridge pilings, and along channel edges. Mud minnows or finger mullet on a jighead or Carolina rig are producing best. Work the bait slowly along the bottom with short hops and pauses. Sheepshead and black drum are holding tight to structure, especially piers, bridges, rock jetties, and barnacle-covered docks. Offshore: Snapper and grouper (season-dependent) are stacked on structure such as natural bottom, ledges, and wrecks. Bottom fishing has been hot for Nov & Dec .
We have a good consistent black fin run every fall to spring or so here in the panhandle. For the last 5 or 6 years, anyway.
This year, some 100-150# yellowfins came in with the blackfins, 2 were landed on Pensacola pier. About 10 or so were hooked on the pier, fought for 3 to 5 hours on spinning gear, and lost at the pier.

We had a good run on back snapper along with the red snapper. Out of Pensacola pass lots of large vermillion snapper. Good catches of Amber jacks for a fun fight and release.

The Vermillion snapper and Spanish mackerel have been on fire the last couple of days!

Sheepshead have still been biting and redfish are as well. Mix bag last trip out pompano black drum mangrove and sheepshead.

The sheepshead bite has slowed down a little but the Spanish Mackerel and speckled trout has picked up along with some redfish and flounder mixed in!

Big winter time redfish! Scamp grouper are always a good offshore target! Along with big Red Snapper. Swordfish is another specialty fish we target. We love catching big Wahoo!

Fall season for red snapper is in September. Sharks are biting good, Mackerel are showing up, Mahi should be good in the Middle of August and September

Well snapper season has been busy. We are staying bowed up out there. We are still catching some nice amberjacks, King Mackeral, and snappers. With the full moon and tides, the bite during the day has been challenging. However, there are still lots of fish out there showing up on the fish finder. The challenge to enticing a bite exists. We recommend scaling down on your leader size and floating some live bait out there to entice a nice hookup.
