Redfish madness
The last few weeks on the water have been absolutely incredible. If I had to take a guess on how many red fish we caught in the last weeks I would say 250 to 300. Most of the fish we've caught have been in 3 foot or less of water on a popping cork and shrimp. A lot of the recent trips I've ran have had non-stop action from the first cast to the last one. High winds pushed the fish into deeper waters but we found a few keepers.

Fishing is hot in trinity bay. Red, trout, & drum by the hundreds. Mostly small with keepers blended in. Bigger reds are showing up for the fall run. Bait of choice fresh dead shrimp on popping cork.

Kids are schooling but so are the fish!
With the late Summer patterns the fish are schooling on deep structure in 8 to 12 ft of water! Our main tactics have been using a popping cork with 3 foot of 40lb leader, split shot and a #4 treble hook with a live shrimp hooked in the tail. We've had multiple outings where our shrimp has been attacked within the first 10 seconds of hitting the water! In the previous years, once we get the first cool snap of the year the fish will migrate from this deep structure to mouth's of bayou's, drains and rivers to ambush shrimp, shad, mullet and glass minnows being flushed from the shallows. Galveston Bay- Campbell’s reef holding trout and redfish the 2 man made rock shoals holding trout and redfish on shrimp and croaker. The South Jetty holding lots of trout on popping cork with shrimp or free line croaker. And the surf is on fire early and late, here is Ike with a monster trout caught on live shrimp in the surf around 61 st pier. Over 32” released
