Fishing has been great even with the wind blowing! The bite has continued to be good, even though the wind has been blowing. Soft plastics have been producing nice trout and up shallow gold spoons have been what the reds have been wanting!

The bay fishing has been good for redfish throughout the past couple of weeks. Catching lots of reds on soft plastics up on the shallow grass flats around South Padre. It's been windy which makes conditions favorable for hooking into some good redfish. I've also been catching some very solid speckled trout. Several have been over 26 inches. All in all it's a good time to get out on the bay and stretch a line. My schedule is filling up so let's go fishing at South Padre.

After our last blast of north winds came through fishing slowed a little. But water temps are climbing back up to the low 70's and rising. Fish moved around quite a bit but we are still on them. The reds are biting on mullet and skipjack in gaswell. But you need to be very patient. Keeper Trout are hanging around the edges of the channel and very hungry. The black drum are in channel as well but they are random at best.

The spring warm up is coming, reds are going to get crazy soon. And some of the trout I've caught already have eggs in them for spawning season. If everything falls together right, should be an awesome spring season!

All I can say is this was a great trip. Alfonso worked his tail off trying to find some clear water in 20 to 25 mph winds but we managed to get 3 fish. Even with all the winds my wife and I loved the experience with Alfonso. You can tell his passion is fishing and teaching you all he knows about Flounder gigging. We will be using Alfonso again and hopefully less winds next time.
