It can be windy and tough, but if you find a place to tuck up where there's a depot, you can catch trout pompano and other fish with a shrimp on a jig head suspended under a cork.

Pompano have been showing up in the area since we've had our first cold fronts of the winter. We are finding that there are lots of quality fish coming through which makes up for the lack of numbers. As this pattern goes on and with the weather cooperating we're looking at a good season!

The fishing is about as good as it gets right now! The shallow water bite for redfish has been WOW! Shrimp under popping corks is the ticket fished along the mangrove islands on higher water. October did not disappoint and the bite should only continue with the cooler temps coming!

Fishing report from Jon F. in Fort Myers Beach, Florida

The shallow water backbay fishing has been crazy good past week. The cooler air temps have really turned on the redfish bite! Shrimp under popping corks has been the go-to set-up and producing good numbers and slot size fish! Trout on the grass flats in 3-5 feet of water have been chewing shrimp topped jig heads under popping corks. There have been a few slot sized fish mixed in but most have been right under slot at 14 inches. There has also been some quality bait schools along the beaches which have led to some good snook fishing as well. October is a great month to get out and fish in SW Florida. Come and get you some and let's bend some rods!

Galveston bay complex is in great shape, the water is clearing with high tide. Overall fishing is very good catching specks, redfish and lots of pan fish. Using live shrimp or live croakers. It's a great time to get the kids out for a fun fishing trip. Thanks, Captain Mike.

The Trout and Pompano bite is hot! Clear clean water from the incoming tides bring the pomp's in hot around the passes, jetties and the beaches. The trout have been inshore on structure and really biting good when the water is moving. If the tide is coming in strong early in the mornings this is the best time to catch the bigger ones around structure. Tight lines and bent rods y'all!
