Summer time is trout time. Lots of speckled trout to be caught. We are catching a good number in the 20 inch range pretty consistently with a lot of pan friers.

06/20/2023 Largemouth Bass

Stillhouse Hollow: We are averaging 30 bass on slower trips and over 60 on the good ones! Targeting bass over shallow vegetation with various topwater lures and swimbaits will do well for larger bass during the early morning and late evening hours. For numbers, we are targeting huge schools of nomadic offshore bass that are roaming open water in search of baitfish. We are locating these schools with forward facing sonar and then catching them with weightless soft plastic jerkbaits fished quickly across the surface. These schools are suspended over water that is anywhere from 25 to over 100 ft deep.

Lake Fork is fishing fair with top waters early around grass on yellow magics and frogs . Carolina rigs and Texas rigs best in 12 - 20 ft around points with 10 inch blue fleck worms . Deep crank baits good on the deeper points over 20-25 ft with DD -22 in Shad patterns .

Stillhouse Hollow: We are doing great on numbers of bass with the occasional big one. Our primary strategy has been to target nomadic schools of bass offshore in open water. Once we find them, we are catching them on a small, weightless soft plastic jerkbait. We are also finding success by using drop shot rigged finesse worms in submerged vegetation in 8-20 ft of water.

April started on a high note , with spring on us fish are getting very aggressive and protecting their fry so it is that time when a big strike on a top water lures shows up My last trip was a peacock bass trip , after 50 I lost count and it was at mid day trip so I think we ended on 80+ , 3 pounds was the standard size but probably 15 over 4 pounds

They are spread out though some are shallow and other are out deep following the bait fish. Look for schools of bait in 8-12ft over submerged grass. Pitch the Kissimmee grass is a great way to find them as well. It's a little slower trying to find them but once you do, the reward is worth the search.
