Fishing with my clients has been awesome. The tides have been really low to almost a normal tide height for this time of year. Yesterday we had some fog so we waited for it to lift some and then we headed to the location we were going to fish. Never moved. I'm gonna say we landed 30 plus redfish from undersized to maximum legal limit. We had caught our 4 limits .

The backwater is holding lots of redfish, some trout and some large sheepsheads. We’re using live shrimp fishing 4 to 6 feet deep along rocks. Spring Break is right around the corner, it’s time to get your kids outdoors!

Well with this bipolar south Texas winter weather the fishing has been anything but consistent. That being said a lot of fishing guides are having trouble finding and keeping the fish patterned. But never the less I have been giving it 100% every chance I have had to get on the water.

We have a very consistent trout bite with the current size ranging from 15"-21" along with a few kicker fish over 24". The snook have come out of the freeze pretty strong and we are catching good numbers of 18"-25" snook in creeks and canals where the water is warmer. Out on the flats we are having a fantastic season for redfish. My clients can expect 20 shots in a half day of fishing but the fish are challenging! The shallow winter pattern combined with crystal clear water will test any anglers abilities who targets them. They're a great warm up for bone fishing! We are getting shots at singles and schools of up to 50 fish. The average size for the redfish is getting better as well with most fish over 24" and some of the reds on the flats are over 30". They're a fly fisherman's dream!

Fishing report from Jeff B. in Bolivar Peninsula, Texas

Well to keep with the current trend, we had a strong cold front arrive, bringing strong North winds, and dipping water temperatures into the upper 40’s. By Saturday, the wind had switched back out of the East and as the day progressed, moved out of the South at 10 to 15mph. The morning air temperature started out at 41 degrees and was in the low 60’s around lunch time. The water was heavily stained in East Bay, and the wind did help keep the mosquito activity down a little less than what we have been encountering lately, but still need to spray yourself down with my recommended choice of Marshland Inspect Repellent, made here in the great state of Texas. Fished several areas, on an outgoing tide, where catching has been good of late, but found very few bites till late morning. As the day developed, the water began to heat up, bites increased, but the fish were very spread out. Most bites came on a ¼ oz jig head and plum/chartreuse tails, fished very slowly, as the fish were positioned in the deeper channels and bites were very light. If the current trend continues, about 2 to 3 days after the front passes, the fishing normally peaks, so hit me up if you want to get on the water and do some fishing. Until Next Time – Captain Jeff

Fishing report from Chip W. in Jacksonville Beach, Florida

With water temps back up into the 60's fish are turning in the feed bag once again . Finding big schools of redfish in the intracoastal waterway that can be targeted with both artificial and live bait . Black drum are showing up in good number with some being over 20 lbs . Trout are still feeding well on the tops and bottoms of the tide . Sheepshead have been a good bet around structure and jetties as well.

Weather has been good at times windy a lot of the time but we are managing. Targeting sheepshead, redfish and trout inshore, days we are able to go a few miles offshore we are getting lane snapper, grunt, tripletail, red grouper and triggerfish.

Fishing report from Craig L. in Clearwater, Florida

With January being such a warm month water temperatures had pushed back into the mid 60s bringing a push of white bait AKA scaled sardines and threadfin herring into the back Waters of clearwater. Even though we’ve had this influx of bait and have been waking up early to catch these morsels to have one more type of bait to use. live6 shrimp and small half dollar size pin fish are still working the best for trout and redfish. Fish have been moving quite frequently you will find trout and redfish in the same areas with the mullet schools on low water and high water but with cold fronts that are not really chilling the waters down these fish become confused and are tough to locate. But since the water temperature has stayed stable for the last week and a half finally had a really good push spotted sea trout and redfish push up on the spoil Islands and shorelines of clearwater and Indian Rocks Beach grass Flats. Snook have been far and few and in between due to they are sensitive to atmospheric change of the small fronts that have come through they are mainly at the mouths of canals a few roaming the flats close to canals where they can reach deeper water and warmer water. Look for fishing to continue to be the same it has been good just a lot of moving which allows clients to check out famous mansions the back Waters where you feel like you’re in old Florida and many different areas throughout Indian Rocks Beach, Dunedin to Tarpon Springs.

Weather has been pretty good for the most part, super clear water, really fun to sight fish, chasing reds in shallows, and bottom fishing jetty's for black drum and sheepshead. March should be great!
