The bites been a little tough between cold fronts. Having to work a little harder and cover a little more ground throughout the day to fine fish. The month of February will definitely be better as the water is warming up the sheep head are starting to bite the trout are starting to spawn and red fish are starting to stage up on outer islands.

Fishing report from Rick H. in New Smyrna Beach, Florida

The snook bite has been really good the last couple of weeks with the warm weather. The water has been gin clear with lots of schooling reds and trout. The potential for a solid inshore slam is daily

The fishing the rest of this winter and spring is going to be one for the books. We are consistently getting 20+ shots in a half day. Quite of few of these shots are at schools of 10-30 redfish or black drum. The water is crystal clear and the fish are feeding great on artificials and flies. We are commonly catching "lagoon slams" of trout, black drum, and redfish on fly and spin. The best times to book are the days leading up to a full moon to witness the most schooling activity but the fishing has been good all throughout the lunar cycles.

The redfish bite has been fantastic, also lately we've seen more mangrove snapper that I can recall in my 30 years experience. The flounder and sea trout bite has been pretty dependable lately. We appreciate your interest and would be glad to tailor a fishing trip to your preference. Thank you

The last couple days have been nothing short of fishy, any and every species you can think of inshore and nearshore. The sheepshead bite has been as good as it’s ever been. Getting limits and personal best fish for customers. Lane snapper are plentiful on nearshore wrecks and reefs, and the redfish and trout have been keeping us busy inshore with a few snook mixed in. The cold hasn’t slowed the bite down one bit. Fishing shrimp on jig heads for our bottom and structure dwelling fish and popping corks for the inshore fishing. Sight fishing reds has been the go-to on grass flats, pot holes and mangroves. We’ve been catching upper slot trout and getting a few over slot gator trout on every outing. The bite is bound to stay hot with some of these strong flowing tides we get in the winter months.

Fishing report from Craig L. in Clearwater, Florida

Spotted sea trout are starting to push into the clearwater to St. Joseph Sound region. Mild temperatures have delayed their full migration, as it has in years past. Typically, multiple cold fronts that keep the water temperatures lower, will usher in more of the larger, female trout. However, there are a few small schools beginning to congregate. Several tactics are working especially this early in the season. Redfish are plenty full. Although most are 22 to 25in. However, the larger fish are blending in with the mullet schools on most flats. Cut ladyfish, or pinfish cut or under a popping cork are working when casting directly into the mullet schools. Large shrimp have also produced results. Since the water temperature has increased back into the mid 70’s, snook are still cooperating. They are responding to live sardines especially on the falling tides flowing out of the backwaters around the mouths of bays and canals. Targeting the main 3 species will change dramatically due to a cold front coming through tomorrow and cold fronts all the way through Christmas taking our temperatures from the high 70s to low 80s to mid-60s and as the days go on down to 50s as highs and 40s at night will make the fish move to completely different areas. tight lines
