About Your Trip

Captain Alfonso specializes in showing what the waters of South Padre Island are all about. Spend a day on the water catching fish and have fun doing it. It’s as simple as that!

Captain Alfonso will show you the best techniques to reel in Speckled Trout, Redfish, Snook and Black Drum on light tackle as you explore the Lower Laguna Madre.

For these trips, Captain Alfonso uses a 24’ Shallow Master flats boat that can fish up to 6 anglers. This boat has an extremely shallow draft and can stalk up into super skinny water where the fish like to hang out! He welcomes children, beginners, pros, group outings, and everyone in between! Captain Alfonso will provide all rods, reels, and tackle.

With Captain Alfonso, you’ll certainly have a great time!

Captain Alfonso is based out of Rio Hondo so can also accommodate pickups anywhere from Rio Hondo to SPI.

You'll need to buy a fishing license before getting out there. Find out more about licenses here.

We use a cashless autopay system. We'll send you a boarding pass, and on the day of the trip, your guide will scan your boarding pass to automatically transfer the remaining balance. The only cash needed is to tip your guide (we recommend 20%).

The deposit for this trip is non-refundable except for weather-related cancellations. Day-of cancellations and no-shows will be charged the full balance of the trip to their card.

In the event of inclement weather you'll be covered by out 100% Weather Guarantee and will not lose your deposit.

When the standard fishing charter seems dull, go gig for flounder instead! To say my kids and I had a blast would be an understatement! Captain Alfonso was a great guide and a heck of a DJ! It didn't take long for him to teach the kids and I want to look for and how to gig flounder successfully. He was very patient and took us to multiple spots to find fish. In fact we stayed out much later than the reserved time, which was awesome! We ended up with six fish that were absolutely delicious!

After spending a week at South Padre Island, my kids and I agree that the most memorable thing we did was go flounder gigging. We would not hesitate to do it again, especially with Captain Alfonso!
