About Your Trip

Captain Alfonso is your man if you’re looking to get out and wade the waters of South Texas. You'll need your own waders and wading boots if you don't want to get wet, but feel free to stalk ‘em in skinny water in a bathing suit, shorts, and boots in the warmer spring and summer months.

For these trips, Captain Alfonso runs a 24' 2022 Shallow Master, with a brand-new Suzuki 200-HP outboard—but you won't be spending all too much time on the boat given that you'll be in the water actively fishing.

Wading can be tremendously advantageous to the angler looking to hone in on specific areas where big fish hang out. Though wading trips can be fun for all skill levels and Captain Alfonso is a master a teaching his clients the best techniques, we do recommend wading trips for anglers with more experience.

He is flexible with pickups as he can pick up on South Padre Island or Arroyo City. Take a trip with Captain Alfonso to experience premium wading fishing!

The deposit for this trip is non-refundable except for weather-related cancellations. Day-of cancellations and no-shows will be charged the full balance of the trip to their card.

It didn't take long for him to teach the kids and I want to look for and how to gig flounder successfully. He was very patient and took us to multiple spots to find fish. In fact we stayed out much later than the reserved time, which was awesome! We ended up with six fish that were absolutely delicious!

After spending a week at South Padre Island, my kids and I agree that the most memorable thing we did was go flounder gigging. We would not hesitate to do it again, especially with Captain Alfonso!
