    The redfish bite has been pretty solid along with the snook bite. I’m starting to see some really nice mangrove snapper show up at some local docks as well. Reef fishing has also been good of the wind isn’t blowing too bad. Snapper, grunts and sheephead have been chewing pretty good out there. The grouper have been chewing the floor out of the boat but unfortunately we can’t keep them right now.

    April has sprung and inshore fishing is hopping along as water temperatures warm and bait schools start to migrate to our local waters. Tarpon fishing is fantastic targeting channel edges, docks, and mangrove shorelines. Schooling fish can be seen on the surface rolling, live baits and DOA Terror Eyz great baits to present to them. Both sides of the tides produce a good bite, tarpon are ranging from 5 to 50 pounds. Seawalls and mangroves have been the hot spot for targeting snook. Live bait and Rapala twitch baits get the strike. Schooling fish can be found near heavy structures, producing all four species of snook. Freshwater bite has been producing awesome peacock bass action using Rapala twitch baits and live baits. Seawalls and docks best areas to locate peacocks. Clownknife fish are abundant along channel edges and bridges. DOA Terror Eyz great bait to produce many strikes. Well that is the fishing report for the past week, hope you all enjoyed. Remember you can’t catch them from the couch, so get out there and get hooked up. Tight Lines!

    As March comes to an end, the heat is still on. Warm weather, excellent bite for snook and tarpon, recipe for happy anglers. The warm water temperatures have the linesiders, chewing, striking, live bait, flies and DOA 4” jerk baits. Drop offs along mangrove shorelines and docks have been the main areas to tango with the snook. The past week provided all four species of snook for anglers, making for extremely happy, anglers and guide. Tarpon aka “Silver king” fishing continues to thrive. Tarpon are roaming in schools along channels chasing bait schools. Rolling fish on the surface, give pinpoint where to cast to get the strike. Live baits, flies and DOA Terror Eyz get the job done. Small schools of jacks have also added to the fun for anglers. Rapala skitter walks worked along docks and sea walls create awesome explosive strikes. Those looking to catch a plethora of species, shrimp on the bottom will get the rod bent creating nonstop action for anglers. Freshwater fishing is on fire, peacock bass, clown, knife, fish, and largemouth are all striking with a vengeance. Live bait for these fish is always a fan favorite, but Rapala twitch baits and flies. Will also get the strike. The bite will continue to stay hot as warm weather continues.     Since the the last month being do warm and wayer temps in the upper 70s final a couple cold front, fishing has picked up. Redfish have started to show up in moe places and better numbers, from the backwaters of Clearwater. We have found them around docks, oysterbars, and points of sand bars that have potholes and sparce grass where it drops off. The best baits have been silverdollar size pinfish and grass grunts with tail cut off fluddering on the bottom. Next tail hooked under a float will get the job done. Artificials such as Top water lures and trusty go to gold spoon have been producing some nice fish, and is a great search bait. The beaches have been absolutely on fire with mackerel. With all the bait around, it's so easy to get a well full of bait. You cant have enough even if it dies. Look for the birds working, and drift or anchor up and start chumming. Our most productive method is using 40lb floro with a #2 to 3 aberdine style hook. The fish have ranged from 4 to 5lb. Kingfish are around, but very few. The next 2 months, fishing is going to get crazy. Cobia, mackerel, shallow snook, trout, reds and even some resident tarpon will start show in the back water So, start booking your trip to experience great lighttackle fishing.

    What's going on anglers! The beginning of March Beach bite has been relatively slow, we're mostly picking away at smaller whiting and more fish like jacks and ladyfish out of the surf. This is a promising sign of spring bait showing up as we transition into the spring weather pattern. Daylight savings will change the fish activity minutely, which helps us target fish from the surf earlier and later in the day. With our conditions lately I have been staying busy fishing the river with mullet, in spring the fish that went deep out into the ICW or Ocean return to their tributaries to rest and spawn. Tarpon and snook will be moving into the rivers and will become a prominent target from land. Here is a slot snook & tarpon both caught on live mullet 2/0 circle hook and 30# leader. Tight lines!

    Spring fling is in the air! Warm weather and plenty of sunshine has anglers flinging baits and hooking up! Tarpon fishing has been spectacular the past week. Bowing to the king never gets old and anglers have had great success fly fishing using live baits and DOA Terror Eyz. The tarpon are in schools near channels and mangrove shorelines, sight casting the tarpon not uncommon during outings. Snook are on the tear, striking live baits, flies and DOA C.A.L. 3” shad tail. Structures, shorelines and channels have been teaming with snook. Snook are active all through the day as well as night. Multiple species of snook add to the excitement for anglers. For those who like to target other species, jacks are always up for the fight. Providing extreme drag screaming runs, jacks will devour live baits and Rapala skitter walks. Well that is the report for the past week hope you all enjoyed. Remember you can’t catch them from the couch, so get out there and get hooked up. Tight Lines!
    March has arrived and the weather has been spectacular. Warm weather days, light winds perfect weather for fishing. Snook fishing has been fantastic targeting mangrove, shoreline and docks using DOA C.A.L. 3" shad tail, flies and live bait. Anglers have been catching all four species of snook the past week. Many of the days anglers could sight fish the snook, making for exciting takes. The tarpon fishing is adding fun in the sun for anglers. Anglers are bowing down to the king. Live baits and DOA Terror Eyz have been the bait of choice for the silver king. Schools of tarpon are seen rolling on the surface making anglers happy as they cast in their vicinity. Channel edges and holes have been holding a plethora of species. Jacks have been the highly prized catch, due to their drag screaming runs and relentless fight. Jigs and top water plugs have been great tactics for the jacks. Snapper, drum, mackerel are also in the mix. Well that is the fishing report for the past week, hope you all enjoyed.     If you are visiting the area and staying in hotels on the beach, you have probably noticed some effects of Red Tide. The first things you may notice are a scratchy throat and coughing. The next thing you may witness are dead fish. Unfortunately, there has been a Red Tide bloom that has continued to plague the Pinellas coastline and kill fish for over three months now. The good news is there are no signs of Red Tide in upper Tampa Bay where I’m located and the fishing is excellent. The snook, redfish and seatrout are plentiful and more than willing to take a bait. So, what are you waiting for? Book your adventure now, and let’s go catch some fish!

Visitors are not only enjoying our spectacular weather, but have the opportunity to experience some of Tampa Bay’s outstanding fishing too. There have been days lately where I ran two, four-hour charters back-to-back catching fish all day. This is good news for the upcoming Spring Break season, because I only look for the fishing to get better as spring approaches. So, if you’re here vacationing or live here through the winter, now’s a good time to plan a fishing trip.
