Water is cooling down and the fishing is heating up. Trout bite has been great on the creek mouths. Look for the spotty bottom with kelp grass for you best results. A lot of slot size redfish and over slot are on the outer islands and also in the creek mouths Feeding on mud minnows and shrimp. Incoming tide has the best bite. Gag grouper are stacked up on the rocks in 5ft to 12ft of water.

We have been fishing lots of wrecks, reefs. and inshore water. Jumbo size yellowtail have been pretty consistent on big love pilchards, along with the occasional African pompano and yellow Jack. Some decent size muttons have started to move into patches and mangrove snappers too. On the windy days we fished inshore and caught tarpon, snook, Goliath grouper and some nice sized mangrove snapper too.

Fishing live bait in Biscayne bay for tarpon, yellow jacks, mangrove, mutton snappers and groupers has been great, with a good chance to take plenty of fish home to eat. The easy availability of live bait is what makes these trips successful. That will change as soon as we start getting cold fronts that cool the water off, and push the bait fish to deeper water. During nice weather days, bonefishing in Biscayne bay can be awesome with lots of shots, and the biggest fish of the year, from now through spring. Flyfishing and light tackle in the Everglades for snook, tarpon, sea trout and redfish has been very good, and will continue fishing well, depending on the fluctuations of weather and cold fronts activity.

November has arrived, fall weather has fallen out of south Florida. It’s been warm and the fishing has been red hot for a plethora of species the past week. Channels and flats have been teaming with big schools of jacks, mackerel, tarpon, moonfish, bluefish and sharks. Glass minnow schools have been main target for the predator fish. DOA C.A.L. curl tail jigs and live greenies have been excellent baits to get the strike. Rapala skitter walks always fun for anglers, as they witness fish explode on the surface, striking there lure. Tarpon schools can be seen rolling on the surface, allowing anglers to cast DOA BaitBuster and live bait in there vicinity. Both side’s of the tide produce great shots at tarpon. The tarpon have been ranging in size from 10 to 60 pounds. Snook fanatics have had fun targeting snook around sea walls, docks and bridges. Live baits, DOA Terror Eyz and Rapala skitter walks have been getting the strikes. Snook can been sight fished on the flats. Bottom of the tide, snook can be targeted laying in pot holes. Nothing beats sight casting and hooking up with a linesider. Well that is the fishing report for the past week, hope you all enjoyed. Remember you can’t catch them from the couch, so get out there and get hooked up. Tight Lines!

It is officially fall in Sarasota, Florida and we are enjoying the cooler temperatures. We have experienced our first cold front of the year and our water temperatures got as low as 64 degrees in some places. By the end of October our water temperatures have climbed back up to a comfortable 70 - 78 degrees and the fish are loving it! During the cold front our customers enjoyed targeting Snook in creeks while they were finding the warmer water. Before and after the cold front we targeted schools of Redfish on our shallow grass flats, while water temperatures were low we had good luck targeting Redfish along structure and dock lines. Once our water temperatures warmed up the Trout, Mackerel and Bluefish fishing in Sarasota Bay really took off! Winter is just around the corner and we are enjoying our fall fishing while it lasts!

Well since hurricane Ian we have had very high murky water. But that’s ok because the bite had been good. This time of year is our transition period so that makes the fish spread out. We have been throwing lots of soft plastic swim baits , pop n corks with live shrimp, and some top water as well. Come join the fun and let’s catch some nice reds, trout , snook, and black drum.

Fishing report from Mike M. in Clearwater, Florida

Offshore, Spanish Mackerel and Kingfish are running pretty strong, as are grouper and lane snapper. Inshore, the snook is pretty good and the redfish are starting to move into shallower water

Fishing is heating up in the backcountry. Water Temps are cool in the morning and warm up later in afternoon. The snook bite is good in the glades along with the redfish. Bonefish will be here and up on the flats feeding heavily on shrimp. Baby Tarpon on fly rod has been decent as well.

September and October were fabulous months out there. We had a very hot tarpon bite on the St. Johns River. We also had fair action on spotted seatrout, sandtrout and mangrove snapper. We caught a hand full of redfish and black bass in the brackish waters and we caught a couple of Bull Reds as well. Hurricane Ian wasn't severe in Jacksonville but we got a significant amount of rain which muddied the St. Johns River and slowed things down. The water should be cleared up any day now. As temperatures drop, I am expecting the snook to turn on in some of the river tributaries and redfish and spotted seatrout action should take off in the ICW. Sometimes the juvenile tarpon fishing can be good as well the water first cools.
