If you are visiting the area and staying in hotels on the beach, you have probably noticed some effects of Red Tide. The first things you may notice are a scratchy throat and coughing. The next thing you may witness are dead fish. Unfortunately, there has been a Red Tide bloom that has continued to plague the Pinellas coastline and kill fish for over three months now. The good news is there are no signs of Red Tide in upper Tampa Bay where I’m located and the fishing is excellent. The snook, redfish and seatrout are plentiful and more than willing to take a bait. So, what are you waiting for? Book your adventure now, and let’s go catch some fish!
With temperatures in the mid-80s the last couple of weeks, it’s hard to believe it’s still winter. Especially, since it’s snowing in much of the country. Visitors are not only enjoying our spectacular weather, but have the opportunity to experience some of Tampa Bay’s outstanding fishing too. With water temperatures hovering in the mid-70s, the snook, redfish and seatrout fishing is excellent. There have been days lately where I ran two, four-hour charters back-to-back catching fish all day. This is good news for the upcoming Spring Break season, because I only look for the fishing to get better as spring approaches. So, if you’re here vacationing or live here through the winter, now’s a good time to plan a fishing trip. Just pick up the phone and give me a call, I’d be happy to show you the adventure of a lifetime.

Whirlwind! Everyday brought different direction of winds the past week. The warmer waters helped keep the fishing consistent. Snook fishing provided anglers steady action, wether live baiting or using Rapala twitch baits both created drag screaming action. Mangrove shorelines, docks and seawalls great areas to find the linesiders. The past week provided multiple species of snook for anglers common and fat snook most prevalent. The channels and drop offs have provided steady action for a wide variety of species. Jacks, mackerel, snapper, ladyfish, snook, drum and many other fish being caught. Shrimp, jigs and top water Rapala skitter walks all methods to entice strikes. Anglers had great numbers of fish during outings, many trips averaged 8 or more different species. Always fun when you never know what’s going to strike on the other end of the line. Well that is the fishing report for the past week hope you all enjoyed. Remember you can’t catch them from the couch, so get out there and get hooked up. Tight Lines!

February fishing has been filled with busy days and bringing fish to the cleaning table. Mother nature has had the fan turned on, which has been mostly keeping us inshore, Which is been just fine with us. Our customers have been. Staying busy with a lot of action . I would say the fish of the month has been lots of keeper speckled trout. And once we've gotten our limit, the snook and redfish have also been very cooperative. We've been making a 15 mile run. To catch greenbacks oh yes and 15 miles back but it has been worth it. all three species are responding to live chumming and free lining. Here's a few February photos, tight lines until next time Captain Phil

Mid February is living up to its potential, weak fronts, windy conditions and plenty of sunshine. Florida issues, but for anglers frustration builds as winds due. Locating Snook! Anglers can target mangroves, docks, seawalls, bridges and other structures for great action. Live baits, DOA C.A.L. 3” shad tail and for fly anglers clousers and deceivers get the strike. Bottom structure is key when weather conditions get tough for anglers. My groups had great success catching a plethora of species working shrimp and small bucktail jigs near the bottom. Most species caught during our outings the past week was 13 different species. Snapper, grouper, jacks, mackerel, drum and ladyfish just to name a few. Well that is the fishing report for the past week, hope you all enjoyed. Remember you can’t catch them from the couch, so get out there and get hooked up. Tight Lines!

We have a very consistent trout bite with the current size ranging from 15"-21" along with a few kicker fish over 24". The snook have come out of the freeze pretty strong and we are catching good numbers of 18"-25" snook in creeks and canals where the water is warmer. Out on the flats we are having a fantastic season for redfish. My clients can expect 20 shots in a half day of fishing but the fish are challenging! The shallow winter pattern combined with crystal clear water will test any anglers abilities who targets them. They're a great warm up for bone fishing! We are getting shots at singles and schools of up to 50 fish. The average size for the redfish is getting better as well with most fish over 24" and some of the reds on the flats are over 30". They're a fly fisherman's dream!

Fishing has been getting hot in Key West. Lots of big cobia moving in with the fronts, and some inshore snook and tarpon have been getting thick. Snapper, jacks, cuda, and sand sharks are also chewing very good. On the calm days, we have an opportunity at sailfish, tuna, and Wahoo plus the mutton snapper bite in the deep has been excellent.

We’ve had a shot of spring weather and aside from a couple of 50° mornings temps have been surging to upper around 80° in the afternoon for the past couple of weeks. This has warmed the Tampa bay waters to a friendly, 75° and has really lit a fire for our inshore fishing trips , and has put the fish in some of our early spring transitional fishing areas. snook, redfish, trout, and Jack Crevalle have all been on the hit list

January was a wild month hot, cold, windy, calm we experienced it all. So many different conditions led to many different species and situations to target fish. Lots of bent rods and smiles. Snook fishing was great the past week lots of small fish but an abundance of them along with multiple Spector snook being caught. Mangrove shorelines, docks and bridges all areas holding linesiders. Live baits, Rapala twitch baits and flies all got the snook hooked on the line. Schools of jacks, mackerel, bluefish, blue runners and many other species made great rod bending action. Shrimp, bucktail jigs, DOA Terror Eyz and Rapala skitter walks all great lure choices. Well that is the fishing report for the past week, hope you all enjoyed. Remember you can’t catch them from the couch, so get out there and get hooked up. Tight Lines!
