Well since hurricane Ian we have had very high murky water. But that’s ok because the bite had been good. This time of year is our transition period so that makes the fish spread out. We have been throwing lots of soft plastic swim baits , pop n corks with live shrimp, and some top water as well. Come join the fun and let’s catch some nice reds, trout , snook, and black drum.

Fishing report from Mike M. in Clearwater, Florida

Offshore, Spanish Mackerel and Kingfish are running pretty strong, as are grouper and lane snapper. Inshore, the snook is pretty good and the redfish are starting to move into shallower water

Fishing is heating up in the backcountry. Water Temps are cool in the morning and warm up later in afternoon. The snook bite is good in the glades along with the redfish. Bonefish will be here and up on the flats feeding heavily on shrimp. Baby Tarpon on fly rod has been decent as well.

September and October were fabulous months out there. We had a very hot tarpon bite on the St. Johns River. We also had fair action on spotted seatrout, sandtrout and mangrove snapper. We caught a hand full of redfish and black bass in the brackish waters and we caught a couple of Bull Reds as well. Hurricane Ian wasn't severe in Jacksonville but we got a significant amount of rain which muddied the St. Johns River and slowed things down. The water should be cleared up any day now. As temperatures drop, I am expecting the snook to turn on in some of the river tributaries and redfish and spotted seatrout action should take off in the ICW. Sometimes the juvenile tarpon fishing can be good as well the water first cools.

The fishing in the Sarasota area has been great. Whether you are fishing off the beach or in the bay there has been a consistent bite with multiple different species. Off the beaches right now, you can expect to catch a limit of Spanish mackerel along with cobia and King mackerel. The little Tony a.k.a. Bonita is soon to arrive to the party. All of these fish make great table fare and are a blast to catch. On the inshore side of things, the snook and red fish fishing has been on fire. With with plenty of bait around the fish have been very active. The pompano and sheepshead should be biting in the next few weeks as the water temperatures drop.

Hey Hannah, the redfish bite is still steady. With the flood tides target grass lines with a popping cork and a live mullet or shrimp on a 1/0 circle hook. For the bull reds target the inlets with either live mullet, blue crab or cut bait on a 3/0 hook with minimal weight. Slack tides will produce the best fishing. Flounder, same ole story. Target creek mouths, bends and sandbars. The snook bite is the best it's been in a couple of weeks. Target most of the same area's as the smaller refs and flounder with live shrimp or finger mullet on a 1/0 to a 3/0 hook with a split shot or under a popping cork. In the St. John's River the everything is still keyed in on shrimp as they thin out. Use a slip cork rig with a 1/0 to 3/0 hook and pitch up close to natural shoreline and hold on. You can expect to catch everything from largemouth, striped bass, red fish and catfish. Currently we are experiencing higher than usual flood tides so the fishing is tough but once you find them the bite is pretty good.

Fishing report from Craig K. in Palm Beach, Florida Book a trip with Captain Craig here.

Let the mullet run madness begin! The swell last week pushed the first wave of mullet into the palm beaches. Only downfall has been the rain runoff which has made the water dirty. The intercostal, beaches, and inlets are full of bait schools and the snook are there crashing and feeding on these baits. Find the bait schools and use live baits on jig heads or free-lined to get the strike. Rapala skitter walks and DOA BaitBusters are also great baits to entice the linesiders. Tarpon! favorite beast to target, can be seen exploding on bait schools along the beaches and inside the intercostal. Both sides of the tides tarpon are chewing. Find bait schools and fish the perimeter with live baits or DOA BaitBuster for success. Smaller tarpon can be targeted along mangrove shorelines using live baits, DOA 4" jerk baits and popper flies. The big jacks are starting to invade the intercostal, busting up mullet pods with a vengeance. Rapala skitter walks DOA PT-7 weedless top water and live baits will get the drag screaming. Schooling fish can be seen attacking bait schools making it fun to target and catch fish one after another. Well that is the fishing report for the past week, hope you all enjoyed. Remember you can’t catch them from the couch, so get out there and get hooked up. Tight Lines!

Summer is slowly coming to an end here in Sarasota, Florida and we are excited to be seeing signs of Fall. Our Trout Fishing has been fantastic in Sarasota Bay along our deeper grass flats with tons of action from other by catch, Jacks, Lady Fish, Mangrove Snapper and Triple Tail. We have also started to find schools of Redfish along our shallower grass flats and mangrove islands. The Snook fishing in Sarasota seems to always be good as our customers have enjoyed catching Snook in both our passes ( New Pass, Big Pass) and along our mangrove islands and oysters bars on the higher tides.

The red fish bite is still good despite them being spread out a little in the creeks and flats. Most are staging in the inlets for the mullet run and spawning. Flounder and drum bite is still good. Look for both in creek corners and creek mouths for the flounder. The water temperature will start to drop in the next few weeks so we can expect to start seeing some triple tail more often and the trout bite will get better. We’re also picking up snook in residential canals and creeks on the falling tide. Tarpon are on the beach along with big jacks and Spanish mackerel. Target the pogy pods just off the beach or in the surf.
