Fishing in July is Hot! Early Morning bite is the best for inshore Reds, shark fishing is active in the Harbor. Fishing in July can be extremely productive but everyday is different and we are just a couple of months away from the best fishing we have to offer and that is the fall bite!

The Trout Bite is as HOT as the Temperature! We went out early to avoid as much heat as possible. We watch the sun come up and the bait shower across the water in front of us. No sooner did the sunlight hit the water and the first trout hit the deck! We reeled in some small ones and a couple of slot sized ones and decided to move a little. I don’t know if the dolphins were leading or following but everywhere we found good fish they seemed to find us! We were almost ready to come in when Josh got a runaway hit and a 27” Snook exploded out of the water and it was a sight to see! That Snook put up a good fight but it ended way too soon. It was a good way to end the day!

Fishing in trinity bay has been great with quick limits. Reef, rocks, and structures have been holding fish. Reds, Trout, Blackdrum have been biting prominently on shrimp under cork and with good tide movement on bottom rigs. Sheepshead have been of good size hitting on shrimp as well. Tons of bait moving around the bay system. This weekend between the bad weather should be great fishing with the waters cooling down a little. Trinity bay Temps are high 80s. Alot of fish are deep and hungry. Small trout and skipjacks are running the shallows on incoming tides. Reds are staying deep in channels and deep reefs. Black drum are everywhere, with sheepshead mixed in with them. The go-to bait are live shrimp and fresh dead shrimp on popping cork, artifical and also bottom rigs.

Drum and reds have been schooling up tight. Look for signs of dirty or off colored water in clear area around shorelines or small drop offs. Live shrimp under or popping cork or cut mullet and skip Jack have been the key. Trout bite has been good with croaker when you can find a good concentration of slot trout.

July started off with a BANG! Fishing has been outstanding for the most part. The majority of what’s been biting are snook, mangrove snapper, seatrout, silver trout, Spanish mackerel, sharks, and a few redfish. Sure, there have been a few days where the fish bite has been slow, but that’s why it’s called fishing. If you’re looking to keep some fish for dinner, the only species that’s closed to harvest right now is snook. Other than that, putting fish in the box has been a given. So, if you’re looking to catch dinner or just catch and release, book your adventure today.
