Warming water has heated up pre-spring fishing With the approach of springtime coming, the fish have been on the move on this warming trend just two weeks ago we were still fixed and a solid winter pattern with excellent catches on hogfish grouper and snapper at winter depth of 45 to 55 feet. There's literally low tides and high skies made for some nice sight fishing opportunities in shore. For some bruiser size cobia When the water rises after these low morning tides The snook and redfish have been to target in the afternoon Using live greenbacks Speckled chop fishing has kept everything going all winter long with greenbacks and shrimp plenty of keeper trout may December and January a big hit with clients that wanted to keep fish. Well, it seems like spring is right around the corner and we should get into some of our best fishing of the year. Let's get you booked in for another great Captains experience

The past week has been a decent one. Catching both speckled trout and redfish on soft plastics. Actually limited on speckled trout on every am trip last week on soft plastics. Larger swim baits have been my go too. Darker and natural mullet colors are both producing strikes. The tides are extremely low in the morning and fluxing in hard towards the afternoon. Catching redfish on the windier days especially in the afternoon as the tides push in. Schools of black drum are popping up in deeper water transitions. Expect the bite to remain solid as long as weather remains stable.

Last few weeks have been amazing!!! 3 days of very cold waters down 40.4 degrees. During which we had to literally put the bait a few inches from their mouth.

Offshore in 100-120ft Red Grouper, Vermillion Snapper bite has been excellent! If you want to have fun after catching a few fish to eat the AmberJack fishing is great this time of year but out of season. A great way to finish up a trip getting your arms worn out! The Trout and Redfish are moving from the backs of creeks to the flats catching on soft plastic baits with a popping cork , and top water is just starting to get bites.

Despite the Cold Weather Despite the weather being alittle chilly on some days the fishing has been pretty good. We have been getting some really nice redfish and speckled trout. On the days the weather was not freezing and we were able to get on the water the fish were willing to bite. Getting live shrimp has been challangingdue to the water temps, but mud minnows have worked just fine. Using the floating cork over structure has worked well. Also have been using a 1/4 ounce jighead on the bottom aslo produced.

The fishing has been decent. There's a biomass of trout in the bay right now and they're hungry the water temps are equalizing and thusly the snook have started bighting again the red fish we were blessed with a few weeks ago have seemingly left, mackerel in the outer bay and gulf are chewing the bottom paint off and if you can make it out there the cobia are bighting in the gulf. Around town small snapper can be found pretty easy and plenty of Jack action as well.

Trout fishing on Sabine Lake has been good lately. The weather is finally starting to break. We are catching lots of trout on the Louisiana shoreline. The best baits have Corky's on an incoming tide. We are catching some bull reds mixed in with the trout. Also, I looked for this trend to get better as a spring progresses.

Islamorada & The Everglades National Park is above average temperatures this year for February and making fishing hot hot hot! From bonefish and permit on the flats to snook redfish and trout. All are fishing excellent the only problem is deciding what to do!!

Fishing report from Glenn H. in South Padre Island, Texas Book a trip with Captain Glenn here.

Winter time fishing has been solid throughout the south Padre Island area. Snook and large trout remain plentiful in the Brownsville ship channel. Many of my trips have been with less experienced anglers and we have been focusing on speckled trout in deeper water with great success. The wonderful thing about being this far south is that "winter "means the temperature dropped into the 60s with highs near 80s during the day. Of course we get a cold front or two that slows fishing For a day as the front passes but the weather warms right back up quickly. Red fishing has been consistent with top water action along with soft plastics being the ticket. Find the bait and the fish are there with them. Fly fishing trips have been outstanding during the extreme low tides that we have. Fish become concentrated and wafing for tailing red fish has been the name of the game. Fishing will remain consistent and only get better as spring progresses.

Water temps still sitting in mid 60's red and trout are in waste deep water. We have been starting the mornings with corky's or soft plastics for our trout. For redfish we are sticking with a soft plastic with a 1/16 jig head. Be looking for scattered shell and mud with a shell flat to the outside. As the day heats up the fish are movie closer to shoreline to sun. The double D has been a killer bait in the afternoon for both reds and trout in the afternoon over shell.
