About Your Trip

Whether a morning or afternoon trip, the lower Laguna madre is the largest area of contiguous saltwater flats in the world. Fishing will take place from South Bay, at the foot of Space X rockets all the way up to the mouth of the Arroyo Colorado some 20 miles to the north.
Double Mermaid Outdoors is an artificial only Guide service. The primary species targeted are speckled trout, redfish, snook, Jack Craevelle as well as other inshore species.,
Advanced anglers will find themselves right at home while beginners can be taken from never having made a cast to catching fish in a short period of time. Double Mermaid is family friendly and kid friendly. Trips can be tailored to match both skill and age levels. Techniques used can be both spinning tackle as well as bait casting reels for more experienced anglers.
The average depth of the Laguna madre is approximately 2 feet anywhere you go. Shallow water fishing is the name of the game. Weightless flukes, light jigs as well as a variety of top water presentations round out the majority of the tackle and lures used..
Fishing is done from my 24 foot, custom tunnel hull boat that provides both comfort and room for up to five anglers. Four is the recommended maximum amount but five people fish regularly from my boat if they are relatively experienced. Wade fishing is available upon request.
All trips are customizable with regard to departure time, species focused on, techniques utilized, ability level as well as options for SpaceX rocket launches, dolphin watching, summertime firework shows, swimming and other tour related activities.

Techniques

Everything Else to Know

Like anywhere in North America, summertime is hot and winter time is cold though not nearly as cool as our friends up north. Dress seasonably appropriate. Feel free to call me and discuss specifics based on time of year. Highly recommend polarized sunglasses, a good hat and putting on sunblock before you get on the boat. First of all, it gives time for the sunscreen to soak in and do its job the entire day and secondly it does not get all over the boat. I provide ice and waters. Clients are encouraged to bring whatever else they want to eat and drink for a fun day on the water.

You'll need to buy a fishing license before getting out there. Find out more about licenses here.

We use a cashless autopay system. We'll send you a boarding pass, and on the day of the trip, your guide will scan your boarding pass to automatically transfer the remaining balance. The only cash needed is to tip your guide (we recommend 20%).

Cancel for free up to 3 days before the trip and receive credit back to your account. Cancelling within 3 of the trip will forfeit your deposit to the guide. Day-of cancellations and no-shows will be charged the full balance of the trip to their card.

In the event of inclement weather you'll be covered by out 100% Weather Guarantee and will not lose your deposit.
