Last week brought very windy conditions for our local waters, cool front passed through bringing 40 knot winds and showers. Targeting snook was mainly done around leeward points and cuts due to the winds. Smal fish were caught near docks and drops offs. Live baits and DOA Curl tails bait of choice. Gusty winds made it fun for fly anglers, but that’s when night fishing comes into play. Dock lights and bridges areas to locate snook, tarpon and many other species. Small deciever flies and live baits get the bite. Channels and drop offs offer a plethora of species for anglers to target using shrimp and small buck tail jigs. Snapper, drum, jacks, mackerel, and my other species put a bend in the rod. Well that is the fishing reply for the past week, hope you all enjoyed. Remember you can’t catch them from the couch so get out there and get hooked up. Tight Lines!

Fishing has been getting hot in Key West. Lots of big cobia moving in with the fronts, and some inshore snook and tarpon have been getting thick. Snapper, jacks, cuda, and sand sharks are also chewing very good. On the calm days, we have an opportunity at sailfish, tuna, and Wahoo plus the mutton snapper bite in the deep has been excellent.

Cold air! South Florida gets another cold blast, water temperatures dropped and the winds prevailed. Winter time fishing is full of ups and downs in the Palm Beaches. Slow down and stay persistent, you will catch fish. Backwater fishing for snook always great areas to locate fish as water temperatures are typically warmer. Mangrove shorelines, muddy bottoms snook flock to these zones, live baits, small jigs and twitch baits all tactics to get the strike. Anglers can also target sea walls, docks and bridges working the bottom thoroughly with jigs and live baits dropped to the bottom. Inlets and channels are holding tarpon on both sides of the tides. Live baits and jigs entice the tarpon to strike. Cleaner water on the high tide causes the tarpon to be finicky at times. Juvenile tarpon prevalent in the backwaters along mangrove shorelines, strike live baits and twitch baits worked slow near pot holes drop offs. Flats, rock piles, and inshore wrecks great areas to target snapper, jacks, blue runners, drum and many other species. Shrimp and jigs both create rod bending action for anglers. Well that is the fishing report for the past week, hope you all enjoyed. Remember you can’t catch them from the couch, so get out there and get hooked up. Tight Lines!
Superb weather the past week made for great days on water. Plenty of sunshine and moderate wind days anglers enjoyed sunshine and rod bending action. Channels and backwaters held plenty of tarpon, the bigger Tarpon finicky at times allowed anglers to witness tarpon temperament. Primarily due to the full moon the bite was hit and miss but the juvenile tarpon do have the same mind set as bigger fish at times, they like to eat if baits is around. Live baits and Rapala twitch baits. Snook fishing was awesome the past week lots of small fish but all four species of snook were caught. Docks also held schooling fish, live baits and jigs worked around pilings got the strike. Fly fishing for snook for multiple days with anglers made for lots of surface strikes and great takes next to the boat. Rock piles and wrecks held plenty of snapper, drum and schools of jacks, bluefish, lady fish and runners. Jigs and shrimp worked near the bottom got hit almost every drop, creating bent rod and happy anglers. Well that is the fishing report for the past week, hope you all enjoyed. Remember you can’t catch them from the couch, so get out there and get hooked up. Tight Lines!

Happy Holidays! Wishing you and your family a great Christmas. South Florida is finally getting some cooler weather getting anglers and fish in the holiday spirit. Back bays and canals are great areas to target tarpon using live baits and Rapala twitch baits. Deep channels holding bigger fish. The high outgoing and first of incoming tide, great times to tango with the silver king. Snook are being found in deep holes and along docks and sea walls. Live baits and DOA C.A.L. 3” shad tail best baits to get the strike. Fat snook and tarpon snook have been mixed together, adding for a mixed bag for anglers. The channel’s and deep holes have been areas to target schooling jacks ranging in size from 5 to 10 pounds. The jacks are aggressive striking Rapala skitter walks, creating awesome surface strikes. Mixed in with the jacks are croaker, drum, mackerel and ladyfish. Well that is the fishing report for the past week, hope you all enjoyed. Remember you can’t catch them from the couch, so get out there and get hooked up. Tight Lines!

Fishing report from Cody W. in Sarasota, Florida

The water has been cooling off and starting to push fish up into the creeks. We have been getting on a lot of jacks, snook, and small tarpon. Bait has still been around and there are a lot of it. With the weather cooling off its making it beautiful out to fish

Seasonable weather has finally returned to South Florida. Moderate temperature days have made for great fishing and clean water. Fun in the sun and drag screaming action. Clean water has made tarpon fishing exciting as anglers can sight cast to fish along channels and docks. Live bait and DOA Terror Eyz excellent choices to entice strikes. Mangrove shorelines are holding juvenile tarpon on the high tides, live mullet or small Rapala twitch baits get the strike. Big schools of jacks have shown up and they are hungry. Top water Rapala skitter walks have been the anglers favorite choice bait for explosive action. DOA C.A.L. 3" shad tail and live baits also get the strike. The jacks are ranging in size from 2 to 20 pounds. Channels and deep holes are holding a plethora of species for anglers to hook up with. Mackerel, snook, snapper, drum, blue fish and sharks get the drag screaming. The clean water has made it fun for anglers witnessing the strike from the fish. Does not get any better. As the water temperatures drop the fishing will continue to thrive as migratory species call our local waters home, for the next few months. Well that is the fishing report for the past week. Remember you can’t catch them from the couch, so get out there and get hooked up. Tight Lines.
