About Your Guide

Captain John (“JT”) was born and raised in North Carolina fishing the coast with his father. At an early age, he was fascinated with all aspects of fishing. In 1980, Captain JT moved to the Destin/Fort Walton area. After fishing on the local piers he knew the passion of fishing was in his blood. Shortly thereafter, he purchased his first boat and began fishing the area local waters and tournaments. Later he tried other aspects of fishing: commercial fishing, back bay fishing, and offshore fishing. Trying them all, he knew his heart was with the back bay and inshore gulf fishing. His expertise in the area waters will insure your party a great fishing adventure.

Captain was very aware of what we wanted in the trip. He delivered with some excellent fights of larger fish. Would definitely recommend to anglers looking for a great experience.

Fishing

Four species off the docks. All the fish we could eat. Continuous action when the weather said we should be skunked.

Had a great day on the water. JT put us on fish wherever we went. Caught a fun variety and brought plenty back for the rest of the week. Great trip.

More than excellent day of fishing, absolutely crushed the king mackerel catching one after another although we did lose a few we more than made up for it, definitely an experience and will definitely be back for another trip

JT came recommended by a good bud. Took my girls and son in law for a 6 hour fishing day. One of the girls, Kelsey, never fished and JT was patient to teach her the ropes. She ended up landing a few king mackerel and the biggest red snapper! We trolled for a couple hours catching several, and then finished the morning with our red snapper limit! Landed at boat dock with more fish than I saw other boats bringing in that day. We socked about six gallon bags of fillets which JT efficiently prepared for us. I highly recommend Dawn Patrol, JT is a great Captain.

Fishing

Trip was great considering the circumstances. Calm in morning, sea got little rough pretty quickly. Caught limit on snapper. Few Spanish thrown end of trip trolling. Captain worked hard for snapper and seemed to know exactly where Spanish would be. Thinking o also hooked a decent king but flipper wanted it so what can you do? Highly recommended taking this 5hr morning trip.

My 7 year old son and I went out for a 3 hour trip with Captain John and it was nothing short of amazing. This was my son’s first time on the ocean and Captain John spent time teaching him (and me) everything we need to know about catching the fish and his knowledge of the waters and the species that were biting were top notch. My 7 year old lamented that we did not book and entire day! Next time we are in Destin we will definitely book time with Captain John again. I cannot recommend them enough.
