This trip starts at the docks in the Harborwalk Village of Destin. Upon arrival you will meet with your captain or one of our associates. If your charter begins at 6am (7am off-season) that is when your charter boat will set off from the docks. Your charter service starts with a cruise through the Destin Harbor and out into the Destin Pass. After reaching the end of the Destin Pass we will set up to begin catching our Live Bait. This usually takes 30 mins (give or take) to catch enough Live Bait to fish with during your fishing trip. After we have enough Live Bait we head out into the Gulf of Mexico to begin catching reef or pelagic fish. It all depends on how the fish are biting that day but we will either stay in one area for the rest of your trip or we will move to another fishing spot. Good Bottom Fishing for, Red Snapper, Vermillion Snappers, Mangrove Snappers, Lane Snappers, White Snappers, Triggerfish, Groupers, and Amberjack to keep if in season. Tolling for Pelagic Species such, as King Mackerel, Spanish Mackerel, Mahi Mahi, Blackfin Tuna, and Bonito Tuna. Also, a great Shark Fishing 🦈 charter! After a few hours of fishing (depending on your hourly trip) we will then head back to the docks. This will usually be a 1 hour ride back (depending on your hourly trip) to the harbor. During this time you and your friends can crack open a cold one or relax on the quick trip back to the docks. Immediately after arriving at the docks your captain and crew will clean all your fish for you so you can take your catch with you. You have the option to give your fresh caught fish to most (if not all) restaurants on the Harbor. They will cook up your fish with one of their restaurant dishes for you. You can’t beat this! This is a perfect way to top off the evening from a great time on the water! This boat is Federally Permitted. *Please Note, 8 Hour and 10 Hour charters depart at 6:00am only. As the summer season transitions into fall, tarpon fishing in Destin begins to taper off as water temperatures cool and tarpon begin their southward migration. However, some anglers may still encounter tarpon lingering in the area's waters well into the early fall months, providing opportunities for late-season fishing. Overall, the tarpon fishing season in Destin offers anglers a thrilling and memorable experience as they pursue one of the ocean's most iconic gamefish against the backdrop of the Emerald Coast's stunning scenery.

What techniques are popular for catching tarpon in Destin, FL?

Tarpon fishing techniques in Destin, FL encompass a variety of methods tailored to the behavior and habitat of these elusive gamefish. One popular technique among anglers is sight fishing, where anglers scan the waters for signs of tarpon activity such as rolling or feeding. Once spotted, anglers carefully position their boat or cast from shore to present live bait or lures to the tarpon. This technique requires patience, keen observation skills, and precise casting to entice a strike from these wary fish. Sight fishing allows anglers to target tarpon in shallow flats, nearshore waters, and along the beaches, offering an exciting and visually captivating fishing experience.

Another effective tarpon fishing technique in Destin is drift fishing. Anglers drift along the edges of channels, over submerged structures, or along the coastline, presenting live bait or lures at various depths to intercept passing tarpon. This technique allows anglers to cover a large area and present their baits in the path of migrating tarpon, increasing their chances of hooking into these powerful fish. Drift fishing can be done from a boat or while wading, providing anglers with flexibility and versatility in their pursuit of tarpon in Destin's coastal waters.

Live bait fishing is a traditional and productive technique for targeting tarpon in Destin. Anglers commonly use live mullet, pinfish, or crabs as bait, either freelining or fishing with a float to suspend the bait at the desired depth. Live bait fishing is often done near bridges, jetties, passes, or along the edges of channels, where tarpon congregate to feed on baitfish and crustaceans. This technique allows anglers to present a natural and enticing bait to tarpon, enticing strikes and providing thrilling battles once hooked. Whether sight fishing, drift fishing, or live bait fishing, tarpon fishing techniques in Destin offer anglers diverse opportunities to pursue these iconic gamefish and experience the thrill of the chase.
