I’ve taken a bunch of guided trips, but Capt. Ben was hands down the best. He was knowledgeable, prepared, positive and put us on numerous species. We took two trips with him and caught bonefish, snook, cuda, jacks, nurse sharks, snapper, permit, trout and came close sight casting tarpon who were being finicky. Will definitely use Leatherneck again when I return to the keys. Thanks again for everything! …
NON-STOP ACTION! Captain Experiences “HOOKED” us up with Captain Ben! Captain Ben is not only professional but he has the experience, knowledge, patience and skill that put us on multi species of fish, in diverse weather conditions throughout the day!! My two sons and I agree, that fishing with Captain Ben was like fishing with a friend! We made memories that will last forever! April 25, 2023. …

Captain Ben gave us a great trip in the Everglades. Put us on fish all day and gave us many opportunities. Made quick adjustments to the situations and made sure we had dinner too! Thanks Captain!
Ben, what a guy/guide! Our family had a great time out fishing with him. Very knowledgeable and friendly! 10/10 would recommend booking with him during your vacation in The Keys!
Ben was very knowledgeable as to where the fish were. From the Barricuda my grandson caught, to all the other fish my son in law, and myself caught. The weather was tremendous. Zach, and Ben changed their schedule to accommodate the 2 families. Will definitely book with them again.
My son and I spent the afternoon with Captain Ben today. From the very minute I booked, Captain Ben was very quick with communication and worked hard to make our trip happen. We had an AWESOME time with him! We covered a LOT of fishing ground and it was apparent that he really knows the local waters and did everything he could to put us on the fish! The boat was comfortable, we never ran out of bait and he was very attentive to rebating hooks and taking off fish for us. The day was everything I expected and more! Capt Ben is very easy to get along with and I would book again with him in a heartbeat! …
I cannot say enough good things about Captain Ben and the awesome fishing adventure we went on! I came to Islamorada on my first ever solo vacation. I wanted to get some fishing in but with me being by myself I couldn’t justify spending the amount of money that most charters charge. That’s when I found Captain Ben who had a great deal on a ½ day Back Country trip. I was reluctant to book at first but I did, and I am very happy with the experience. First, Captain Ben accepted a last minute booking because I wasn’t sure I was going to go. We met up at the boat ramp, got some shrimp for bait and took off to have some fun! A dolphin came up and swam in the boat’s wake when we were in the creek. Throughout our fishing adventure I found Captain Ben to be down to earth and just a good dude. My experience was as if we were two buddies out fishing together. He knows where the fish are! I caught so many fish today! I caught a barracuda, several snapper, a few bone fish, and several sharks! We had a great time! We went to a few different areas and each time fished a little differently which was very nice. At one point we anchored and ambushed the fish as they came in from the Gulf! We had 4 poles baited in the water and a few times we had a couple rods bending at once! Truly incredible experience! Captain Ben baited the hooks for me. I really didn’t have to do much at all but enjoy the fishing! Captain Ben is also a US Marine Veteran! Just a really good guy! I’ll definitely fish with him again when I’m back down in the area! Do yourselves a favor and book with Captain Ben NOW! I promise you will not be disappointed! …
Captain Ben was great. Captain Ben knew right where to put the boat to get fish, he was personable, knowledgeable, and patient, Captain Ben provided all the equipment, baited the fishing polls for us and took the fish off the hook. We caught a ton of fish! Ben cleaned all our fish for us when we returned. We took them to nearby restaurant where they cooked it up! As an added bonus, we saw a couple dolphins, manatees, and sea turtles! We spoke with Captain Ben to book the trip and chatted with him before and after the trip - very helpful and friendly. He helped us choose the type of trip that would be best for us. I highly recommend Leatherneck Backcountry Fishing. …
