Captain Phil welcomes you aboard his brand new 24 Avenger with a tower on it for Tarpon fishing and Permit fishing on the nearshore wrecks! Captain Phil has been serving clients in the Naples area since 1996. He offers nearshore fishing adventures for the entire family and for serious anglers. These Nearshore fishing excursions can be day or night trips, fishing the Gulf of Mexico for grouper, snapper, cobia, permit, kingfish, barracuda, and giant Jewfish on the wrecks. Captain Phil will provide all the fishing gear (rods, reels, tackle, bait), fishing licenses, water, ice. Anything else you’d like to eat or drink you should bring along with you. Though there is usually ample room in our onboard coolers, you may bring a small cooler for your provisions if you’d prefer. Clothing is seasonal, but it’s sunny down in South Florida and most often quite warm. Layering is recommended, especially utilizing anti-UV protective clothing. We typically start the trip just before sunset, and fish specific tides, so the times can be flexible based on the timing of the sunset and tides. In the cooler months the fishing is usually oriented to the dock lights and ultra light tackle and lures. Trips will be designed around weather and tide conditions that change daily to get the best chances to catch our target species. Target species include snook, redfish and tarpon with opportunities for tripletail, black drum, speckled trout, and others. Trip times are half day (4 hours), 3/4 day (6 hours), and full day (8 hours). Full days typically launch first thing in the morning then fish the entire tide cycle while a half day can be adjusted based on conditions. Sight fishing is the objective of a day's trip. I remain on the poling platform and position the boat for you to get the perfect cast at the unsuspecting fish. Fly and light tackle artificial are the techniques used for this, no live bait will be present. The perfect presentation and feeding the fish make for an unforgettable experience. Trips are typically run out of Goodland Boat Park year round. Trips can be run out of Outdoor Resorts in Chokoloskee or Cocohatchee Marina in North Naples upon request depending on target species and time of year. Redfish and snook can be caught year round while tarpon and tripletail are more seasonal. The hull design allows for both skinny water fishing and a comfortable ride to the nearshore reefs if the weather delivers a slight chop.
