The Lower Mountain Fork River is a year-round trout fishery located in the beautiful Ouachita Mountains of southeastern Oklahoma just north of Broken Bow. One of the best tailwaters in the South, this beautiful river sustains natural Trout reproduction for great year-round fishing in both size and numbers. 20+ inch Brown and Rainbow Trout are caught often, and the Oklahoma state record Brown Trout was caught here (weighing 17.4 lbs!).
On this half or full-day trip, Chris will take you to the Lower Mountain Fork River where you'll wade in the banks and go after some Brown Trout and Rainbow Trout. These Trout-heavy rivers are excellent for throwing your first fly-fishing casts, knocking off the rust on your casting skills, or going for as many fish as you can. Chris and his team of expert guides will show you plenty of tips to help get one on the line and are happy to guide anglers of any skill level!
Chris or one of his guides will provide all rods, reels, waders and boots. They run Temple Fork Outfitters rods and reels with Cortland fly line. From Midge to Hexagenia and in between, the flies you will fish are specific to the river.
All you need to bring is an Oklahoma fishing license. We recommend bringing polarized sunglasses, sunscreen, a hat and any snacks or drinks you'll need on the water. You're also welcome to bring your own fly-fishing gear. Book your trip with Chris today and get ready for a productive day of fishing!
