*Lodging and Meals Included* Optionally add on one of Cash's duck, hog, or dove listings to maximize your stay! Our Crane and Bird, Deer, Hog Hunting guides are carefully selected and matched to provide our Hunting clients with the best outdoors experience possible. Each guide is a seasoned professional hunting guide with years of hunting and client focused service experience. A typical Crane hunt involves an early morning breakfast followed by beginning the hunt one hour before sunrise. Our hunting clients typically help set up our Crane decoys and begin helping to set up our mobile Crane Blind. We prefer our clients involved in all phases of a successful Sand Hill Crane Hunt. It allows us to deploy the decoys and blind with less help in the field. The faster we set up and load out the gear after the hunt, the more time our clients have to travel. We do not wear our clients out by packing too much gear, we just ask for a little help to ensure a safe and productive experience. Sandhill cranes require far less decoys than your average goose hunt. Meals Schedule, for a typical weekend two day guided hunting package we provide one meal (Dinner) upon arrival Friday Evening and three meals Saturday (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner) and one meal Sunday (Breakfast) for a total of five meals per person. We hunt Saturday & Sunday Morning with guest departure after the hunt is completed by Sunday early afternoon. Generally until limits are achieved or at 12 Noon on Sunday. THE LODGE Sleeps up to 12 The lodge, purchased in 2010, has been fully refurbished and out fitted for modern living since the building's humble beginnings as a Methodist Church. The expansive main room features game tables, flat screen TV and full kitchen, perfect for private parties & receptions. The ground floor features laundry and two full bathrooms for men & women, including rain shower heads and multiple stalls. Downstairs, you'll find five individual bedrooms with bunk beds, twin beds and queen beds, depending on the room. THE COOKHOUSE Sleeps up to 6 Located just across the street from the Lodge, the Cookhouse is a smaller building that boasts a gourmet kitchen including two ovens, two refrigerators and a standing freezer. The main room is lined with tables to accommodate the hunters and cowboys who gather to dine here three times a day. There are three bedrooms and two bathrooms located in the cookhouse, making it perfect for a small hunting party. A comfortable living room area is completed with a flat screen TV for your viewing pleasure. The main bedroom features a massage chair and private bathroom. Read More

Wade your way into the water with Chris and prepare for an action-packed day of Trout fishing on the fly! You'll get to enjoy some of the best scenery and Trout fishing that Oklahoma has to offer with this trip on the Mountain Fork River. The Lower Mountain Fork River is a year-round trout fishery located in the beautiful Ouachita Mountains of southeastern Oklahoma just north of Broken Bow. One of the best tailwaters in the South, this beautiful river sustains natural Trout reproduction for great year-round fishing in both size and numbers. 20+ inch Brown and Rainbow Trout are caught often, and the Oklahoma state record Brown Trout was caught here (weighing 17.4 lbs!). On this half or full-day trip, Chris will take you to the Lower Mountain Fork River where you'll wade in the banks and go after some Brown Trout and Rainbow Trout. These Trout-heavy rivers are excellent for throwing your first fly-fishing casts, knocking off the rust on your casting skills, or going for as many fish as you can. Chris and his team of expert guides will show you plenty of tips to help get one on the line and are happy to guide anglers of any skill level! Chris or one of his guides will provide all rods, reels, waders and boots. They run Temple Fork Outfitters rods and reels with Cortland fly line. From Midge to Hexagenia and in between, the flies you will fish are specific to the river. All you need to bring is an Oklahoma fishing license. We recommend bringing polarized sunglasses, sunscreen, a hat and any snacks or drinks you'll need on the water. You're also welcome to bring your own fly-fishing gear. Book your trip with Chris today and get ready for a productive day of fishing! Read More

Hiring a guide provides a number of benefits and many choose to book a hunting guide for a combination of experience, local knowledge, convenience, and cost-effectiveness.

Working with experienced hunting guides who know the best local spots and techniques can dramatically increase your odds of a great day. Having someone who is outside every day and knows the area like the back of their hand is going to give you the best chances of success.

Booking a guide is also more cost effective, especially if you only get out a handful of times per year. When you consider all of the costs you would incur on your own such as the price of a boat, maintenance, insurance, gas, high-quality gear, repairs, and more, you’ll find that DIY is sometimes not worth the expense.

Even if you’ve got a great setup already in your backyard, booking a guide also provides a great opportunity to experience new techniques, new locations, or even a chance at a new target species to knock off the bucket list.

The lake’s abundant striper population, combined with its large size and variety of habitats, provides excellent opportunities for catching trophy-sized fish. Additionally, Lake Texoma is home to other species such as catfish, largemouth bass, and crappie, making it a versatile spot for all kinds of fishing.

Another prime fishing location in Oklahoma is Grand Lake o' the Cherokees, commonly known as Grand Lake. Situated in the northeastern part of the state, this lake is famous for its bass fishing, particularly for largemouth and spotted bass. The lake's extensive shoreline, filled with coves, docks, and submerged structures, creates an ideal environment for bass to thrive. Grand Lake also hosts several fishing tournaments throughout the year, highlighting its reputation as a top bass fishing destination. Besides bass, anglers can also find white bass, crappie, and catfish in these waters.

For a more serene fishing experience, the rivers and streams of the Ozark foothills in eastern Oklahoma are perfect. The Illinois River, for example, is well-known for its smallmouth bass and sunfish. This river, with its clear waters and scenic surroundings, offers excellent conditions for both fly fishing and traditional angling. The diverse aquatic habitats in the river provide opportunities for catching a variety of species, including trout in some sections. Fishing in these more secluded and natural areas allows anglers to enjoy the beauty of Oklahoma’s wilderness while pursuing their favorite pastime.

What are the most popular months to go fishing in Oklahoma?

Fishing in Oklahoma is a year-round activity, with each season offering unique opportunities and challenges. Spring is particularly exciting as fish become more active with the warming water temperatures. This is a prime time for bass fishing, especially for largemouth and smallmouth bass, which move into shallow waters to spawn. Lakes like Lake Texoma and Grand Lake o' the Cherokees are hotspots during this period, with anglers using a variety of lures and techniques to target the spawning fish. Crappie fishing also peaks in spring, with these fish gathering in large numbers near submerged structures and along the shorelines.

Summer brings warmer temperatures and different fishing strategies. Early morning and late evening are the best times to fish, as many species, including bass and catfish, seek cooler, deeper waters during the heat of the day. Night fishing becomes popular, particularly for catfish, which are more active after dark. Oklahoma's numerous lakes and reservoirs, such as Keystone Lake and Eufaula Lake, provide excellent summer fishing opportunities. Anglers often target deeper structures and use techniques like drop-shotting or jigging to reach fish that have moved away from the shallows.

Fall is another fantastic season for fishing in Oklahoma. As temperatures begin to cool, fish activity increases, making them more accessible and easier to catch. Bass, especially, become more aggressive in their feeding, preparing for the colder months ahead. Fall is also a great time for targeting striped bass in Lake Texoma and other reservoirs, as they often form large schools and feed heavily. The beautiful fall foliage and mild weather make fishing trips particularly enjoyable during this season. Anglers can expect a productive and pleasant experience, whether they are fishing from the shore, a boat, or wading in a river.

What types of fishing are popular in Oklahoma?

Fishing in Oklahoma encompasses a wide range of types and techniques, catering to diverse preferences and environments. Bass fishing is particularly popular, with both largemouth and smallmouth bass being prime targets. Anglers often use techniques such as casting with crankbaits, spinnerbaits, and soft plastics to lure these fish. In reservoirs like Grand Lake and Lake Texoma, fishing around submerged structures, docks, and rocky shorelines is common practice, as these areas provide ideal habitats for bass. The use of fish finders and modern electronics has also become prevalent, helping anglers locate bass more efficiently in vast water bodies.

Another well-loved method in Oklahoma is catfishing, especially in the state’s numerous lakes and rivers. Techniques such as bottom fishing with stink baits, chicken liver, and cut bait are effective for catching channel catfish, blue catfish, and flathead catfish. Jug fishing and trotlines are also popular, particularly in larger bodies of water like the Arkansas River and Eufaula Lake. These methods allow anglers to set multiple lines and cover more area, increasing the chances of a good catch. Night fishing is especially productive for catfish, as they are more active and feed more aggressively after dark.

Fly fishing is a more specialized technique practiced in Oklahoma’s scenic rivers and streams, particularly in the eastern part of the state. The Illinois River and the Lower Mountain Fork River are prime spots for fly fishing, offering excellent opportunities to catch species like rainbow trout, brown trout, and smallmouth bass. Anglers use lightweight rods and artificial flies to mimic the insects that fish feed on, requiring skill and precision. This method is not only about catching fish but also about enjoying the peaceful and natural surroundings, making it a favorite among those who appreciate the beauty of Oklahoma’s wilderness.

Best fishing lesson I ever had. Kit was so personable I didn't realize he was educating me while we enjoyed time on the water. Good guide, better guy. Highly recommend

Chris and Kit were both amazing. When the first fishing spot was loaded with anglers, he took us to his secret location off the beaten path. It was secluded and jumping with fish. It was my first time fly fishing, but after he taught us the cast, we were reeling in trout in no time. I'd book him again if I was fishing in the area.
