Captain Clayton and team are versatile and frequently depart from Freeport, Sargent, Matagorda, and Port O'Connor depending on convenience and targeted species. Regardless of port, you'll be fishing with Hooker Electric detachable deep drop reels, Dredge reels and a an assortment of dredges, Okuma Makaira 80w, 50w & 30 trolling/ chunking reels, Okuma Makaira spinning reels for Tuna popping & swimbaits, Okuma Metaloid jigging reels, Okuma Cortez kingfishing reels, Okuma Azores spinning rods, Okuma Andros special edition sailfish/ white marlin reels, BarBar Tackle custom rods, and a full assortment of lures and tackle.

Chase a variety of Texas offshore species aboard the Mad Props II, a 45' Cabo Express sport fishing yacht with a custom enclosed helm. This vessel offers strength and reliability "under the hood" while providing all the bells and whistles necessary to complete the full package:

Efficient twin 660 horsepower Caterpillar diesel engines burning 1.0 Nautical Miles per Gallon ("NMPG") at 9 knots, .5 NMPG at 27 knots (FUEL IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE PRICE OF THIS TRIP), Tuna tower with Furuno electronics, 38 ft. triple spreader hydraulic outriggers, air conditioned helm, salon, and v-berth, full salon with couches, satellite TV, DVD/Bluray player, stove, fridge, freezer, microwave, and sink, private v-berth with queen bed, Bluetooth & AM/FM Stereo system, drink box, livewell, fish boxes, Underwater transom lights & overhead spreader lights.

For the techie angler, the Mad Props II is completely decked out with topline electronics: Furuno DRS6A-NXT Dopler open array radar, Nobletech TimeZero Software with dual 22” touchscreen displays, Dual Furuno TZTouch 2 Multi-function displays, Furuno DFF3D multibeam sounder with TimeZero Personal Bathymetry Generator Module, Furuno DFF3 3KW sounder & Airmar R509LH 3KW transducer - bottom returns in over 10,000 ft. of water, Furuno DFF1UHD Chirp sounder & Airmar 275LHW ultrawide chirp transducer, Furuno Autopilot & AIS.

Rest assured that Captain Clayton takes safety as seriously as his fishing gear, if not moreso. The vessel is equipped with Class 1 offshore life vests, a Revere 8-man liferaft, ACR EPIRB, spare VHF radio, spare GPS, VHF Radios, an engine room fire suppressant system.

Everything Else to Know

Bring sunscreen, appropriate clothing for the weather, towel, your food & drinks, camera, seasickness medications, a cooler, large zip lock bags for your fish, and cash tips for the crew and captain. Please try to pack all belongings into 1 small/medium bag. MOST GROUPS BRING WAY TOO MUCH ONBOARD. Remember, this is a fishing trip, not a camping trip. We will try to fit all of your food and drinks in the onboard drink boxes and refrigerator/f freezer but one standard size cooler is permitted for excess food and drinks.

You'll need to buy a fishing license before getting out there. Find out more about licenses here.

We use a cashless autopay system. We'll send you a boarding pass, and on the day of the trip, your guide will scan your boarding pass to automatically transfer the remaining balance. The only cash needed is to tip your guide (we recommend 20%).

Cancel for free up to 14 days before the trip and receive credit back to your account. Cancelling within 14 of the trip will forfeit your deposit to the guide. Day-of cancellations and no-shows will be charged the full balance of the trip to their card.

In the event of inclement weather you'll be covered by out 100% Weather Guarantee and will not lose your deposit.

Each trip's price is determined by the guide and reflects all associated costs. A significant factor in pricing is often the type of boat and the corresponding fuel expenses. Additional costs may include leases, marina or slip fees, bait, and the expenses involved in providing and maintaining the necessary gear for your trip.
