About Your Trip

Get ready to hook into hard-fighting halibut right in the heart of San Francisco Bay with Captain James. These private 4- or 8-hour trips give you and your crew full run of the boat, chasing some of the Bay’s most prized catches without the crowds.

Captain James knows these waters like the back of his hand and will take you straight to the halibut hot spots—sandy bottoms, current edges, and honey holes most weekend warriors
never find. You'll be drift fishing with live bait like anchovies or shiner perch, keeping things active and engaging all day long. When a halibut hits, it’s game on—these flatfish fight with surprising power and make for incredible table fare.

While California halibut are the main target, don’t be surprised if a big striped bass crashes the party. When the bite's hot, you'll stay busy pulling in a mix of hard-hitting Bay species, from leopard sharks and bat rays to the occasional white seabass. Captain James will switch up techniques as needed to keep rods bent and the cooler filling up.

Fishing aboard a comfortable, well-equipped boat, you’ll enjoy a smooth ride, top-notch gear, and expert guidance every step of the way. Just bring your snacks, drinks, sunblock, and a valid California fishing license—Captain James will handle the rest, including bait, tackle, and cleaning your catch.

Whether you’ve got four hours or a full day to spare, this private charter is your ticket to some of the most exciting inshore fishing the Bay has to offer.

My goal is to put you on fish. Nobody on the boat wants fish more than I do. We apply everything we know and hope the fish cooperate. I want to share this passion with everyone. I believe everyone needs these adventures if just to get a break from normal society life. I really enjoy experiencing the excitement of someone else reeling in fish.
