About Your Trip

Looking for a serious workout? Catching sharks all day will do the trick—and it’s a blast. There’s nothing else like it. This private 8-hour trip with Captain James takes you deep into one of the Bay Area’s most underrated fisheries, where powerful predators roam the shallows and deeper channels just beneath the surface.

We’re talking leopard sharks, soupfin sharks, and the occasional big sevengill. These fish hit hard and fight even harder, making every hook-up
a test of strength and stamina. Whether you're new to shark fishing or already hooked, this trip delivers the kind of action that gets your blood pumping. As long as we can find them—and honestly, we always find them—you’ll be in for an unforgettable day.

You'll fish with both light and heavy tackle depending on the target species and conditions. From setting up a proper chum slick to using fresh mackerel or salmon heads as bait, every part of this trip is hands-on and engaging. Most of the action happens on anchor or slow drifts through proven shark zones, and Captain James knows exactly where to set up.

Leopard sharks are the stars of the show—beautiful, aggressive, and built for a good fight. Soupfins and sevengills bring their own brand of chaos, with big initial runs and bulldog strength all the way to the boat. If you want to keep one, no problem. Captain James will bleed, gut, and ice your catch right away to make sure it’s in perfect shape for the table.

Beyond the fishing, it’s just a great day to be out on the Bay. You’ll cruise past Alcatraz, the Golden Gate Bridge, and Sausalito, with a chance to spot sea lions, porpoises, and even the occasional humpback whale. It's not just about sharks—though there are plenty of those—it’s about the whole San Francisco Bay experience.

All gear, bait, and tackle are provided. You just need to bring your snacks, drinks, layered clothing, and a valid California fishing license. Whether you’re looking for big bites, scenic views, or just a break from the usual, shark fishing with Captain James checks all the boxes.

My goal is to put you on fish. Nobody on the boat wants fish more than I do. We apply everything we know and hope the fish cooperate. I want to share this passion with everyone. I believe everyone needs these adventures if just to get a break from normal society life. I really enjoy experiencing the excitement of someone else reeling in fish.
