About Your Trip

Get ready to chase down hard-fighting Striped Bass—locally known as Rockfish—on this exciting fall trolling trip with Captain John out of Hampton, Virginia! Running from October 31 through December 31, this seasonal adventure lines up perfectly with the peak of the fall Striper run, when these fish move into the bay in big numbers and are ready to bite.

Whether you choose a 6-hour outing or go all in with a full 8-hour trip, Captain
John will have you trolling the productive waters of the Chesapeake Bay, putting you right on top of the action. These fish are known for their powerful runs and tasty fillets, making them a favorite for anglers of all skill levels.

You’ll fish aboard a spacious 44’ Evans saltwater boat, powered by twin 225 HP Cummins engines. Built for comfort and stability, this boat has room for up to 19 anglers, making it a great option for larger groups or family outings. After six guests, an additional per-person charge applies, so it’s easy to customize for your crew. The vessel is fully equipped with safety gear, navigation electronics, a flybridge, and even a restroom on board—a huge plus if you're bringing kids along.

Captain John has been fishing these waters since childhood and knows exactly where to find the fish as they push into the bay for their seasonal migration. He’ll provide all the rods, reels, tackle, lures, and fishing licenses you need for the day—just bring along your favorite snacks, drinks, and a good pair of sunglasses.

Whether you’re new to fishing or a seasoned angler chasing your next big Rockfish, Captain John brings the local knowledge, top-notch gear, and no-stress attitude to make it a trip to remember.

As Captain John says: “Quit wishing – let’s go fishing!”
