About Your Trip

Step into one of the Lowcountry’s most unique and unforgettable experiences on Captain Scott’s Morgan Island Tour—an adventure that’s as wild as it is scenic. This has quickly become one of the most requested trips for good reason: where else can you cruise past historic film locations and encounter a free-roaming monkey colony in the heart of coastal South Carolina?

The journey begins at Sam’s Point Boat Landing on the far northeastern side of Lady’s
Island. Movie buffs might recognize it right away—the shrimp boat scenes from Forrest Gump were filmed right here. But the real star of the trip is what lies ahead: a visit to the legendary Morgan Island, better known by locals as “Monkey Island.”

This stretch of untouched barrier island is home to a thriving colony of rhesus monkeys, and seeing them in their natural habitat—palm trees swaying, saltwater shimmering, and monkeys perched on the shoreline—is nothing short of surreal. While we keep a respectful distance (no one is allowed on the island itself), it’s not uncommon to spot dozens of monkeys foraging, grooming, or swinging through the trees. It’s a sight you won’t soon forget.

Along the way, Captain Scott will share the fascinating backstory of how Morgan Island became one of the most unusual ecological research sites in the country. As a Beaufort native with deep roots in these waters, he brings local history to life with a personal touch and a deep love for the environment.

You’ll cruise aboard a comfortable 17’ Key Largo center console, perfect for navigating both open water and shallow tidal creeks. With room for up to four passengers, this private tour is a relaxed, small-group experience tailored just for you—no crowded head boats, just you and your crew exploring the wild beauty of the Lowcountry.

Expect plenty of photo ops, possible dolphin sightings, and a healthy dose of Beaufort charm along the way. So if you've ever dreamed of spotting monkeys on a coastal island or just want to experience something truly off the beaten path, this is the trip for you.

Come make some unforgettable memories—Captain Scott’s got the tide chart ready and the stories to match.
