Spend a full day on the water with Captain James, chasing Kokanee and Trout on some of the Pacific Northwest’s most beautiful and productive lakes. With over 30 years of hands-on fishing experience and a passion that started in childhood, Captain James offers a relaxed yet professional guide experience tailored for anglers of all backgrounds.

This 8-hour trip is all about precision freshwater fishing, targeting Kokanee, Rainbow Trout, and Cutthroat Trout on Lake Stevens, Lake Sammamish, or Lake Samish. Each lake has its own rhythm, and James knows exactly where to go and how to dial in the bite.

What You’re Fishing For

Depending on season and lake conditions, you’ll be targeting:

Kokanee – prized for their fight and flavor

Rainbow Trout & Cutthroat Trout – dependable, fun to catch, and often plentiful

Other occasional catches may include Sockeye, Yellow Perch, and landlocked Coho or Chinook Salmon, adding variety to your day.

Fishing Style

This trip focuses on jigging and spinning techniques, using light tackle for a hands-on, action-packed experience. Whether you’re chasing schools in deeper water or working structure, Captain James will keep you engaged and on fish with proven tactics and personalized instruction.

The Boat

You’ll fish aboard a 24’ Alumaweld sportfishing boat equipped with a 250HP Yamaha engine, GPS, and fishfinder to locate fish fast and stay on the bite. With room for up to six anglers, there’s plenty of space to fish comfortably, store your gear, and enjoy the day.

Everything is included, but we also recommend bringing sunglasses, sunscreen, weather-appropriate clothing, and anything else you might want on the trip.

You'll need to buy a fishing license before getting out there. Find out more about licenses here.

We use a cashless autopay system. We'll send you a boarding pass, and on the day of the trip, your guide will scan your boarding pass to automatically transfer the remaining balance. The only cash needed is to tip your guide (we recommend 20%).

Cancel for free up to 7 days before the trip and receive credit back to your account. Cancelling within 7 of the trip will forfeit your deposit to the guide. Day-of cancellations and no-shows will be charged the full balance of the trip to their card.

In the event of inclement weather you'll be covered by out 100% Weather Guarantee and will not lose your deposit.

Once you've paid your deposit at checkout, we'll send you a QR Code boarding pass. In the event of inclement weather, our guides will check the conditions and make the final call on whether its safe to go on the trip. If they decide the trip needs to be postponed, we'll work closely with you to reschedule or provide a credit for the full deposit, which can be applied to any of our trips in the US and beyond.

Each trip's price is determined by the guide and reflects all associated costs. A significant factor in pricing is often the type of boat and the corresponding fuel expenses. Additional costs may include leases, marina or slip fees, and the expenses involved in providing and maintaining the necessary gear for your trip.
