About Your Trip

Once you clear the last sandbar and head into open water, the Gulf of Mexico opens up into a whole new world—where the water gets deeper, the fish grow bigger, and every trip turns into a true offshore adventure. This trip is designed for anglers ready to go beyond the nearshore reefs and chase hard-fighting pelagic and reef species across Alabama’s vast offshore fishery.

With a federal permit, Captain Spencer and crew can fish both
state and federal waters more than 9 miles offshore. That means access to prime bottom structure and open-water pelagic zones—and during Red Snapper season, you're fishing seven days a week, not just weekends like non-permitted charters.

From artificial reefs and natural ledges to sunken wrecks and oil rigs, the waters off Dauphin Island offer an incredible mix of fishing spots. Depending on the season and conditions, you could be bottom fishing for Red Snapper and Grouper, or trolling deep water for fast-moving Tuna, King Mackerel, and Wahoo. The crew tracks water temperature, bait movement, and recent bite reports to put you right where the fish are feeding.

Expect to target a wide range of species including Red Snapper, Vermillion and Lane Snapper, Amberjack, Grouper (Scamp, Gag, Snowy), Triggerfish, Blackfin and Yellowfin Tuna, Wahoo, Mahi-Mahi, and more. Each trip is customized based on time of year, regulations, and your fishing goals.

Offshore fishing requires a versatile approach. You might start the day bottom fishing over reefs using weighted rigs and fresh bait, then switch to trolling or chunking for Tuna. When the bite turns on, the action is fast and intense—double and triple hookups are common. The crew handles all bait, tackle, and gear, so you can stay focused on the fight.

You’ll fish aboard a custom 31’ Twin Vee powered by twin Mercury outboards. With a smooth ride, top-notch electronics, and all the gear provided, this vessel is equipped for comfort, safety, and serious offshore performance. Up to six anglers can join each trip.

These trips run year-round, weather permitting. Half-day offshore trips typically fish 30–40 miles out, while full-day trips offer more time to explore distant spots and go after a wider variety of species. Conditions can change quickly offshore, so flexibility is key. If the weather doesn’t cooperate, trips are rescheduled for safety.

First-timers are absolutely welcome—no experience required. The captain and deckhand are happy to teach you the ropes, help with technique, and walk you through every part of the trip. For more experienced anglers, you’re welcome to fish independently and even bring limited personal gear with prior approval.

What to bring: sunscreen, hat, polarized sunglasses, weather-appropriate clothing, food and drinks (no glass), seasickness medication if needed, and a cooler with ice to take your catch home. Fishing licenses are included.

Whether you're dropping for Snapper on the reef, trolling for Mahi in open water, or battling a big Yellowfin Tuna deep offshore, this trip promises unforgettable action and a front-row seat to the Gulf’s incredible biodiversity.
