About Your Trip

If you’re after a fun, hands-on fishing experience with great table fare at the end, Walleye trips with Captain Jay are a top choice. Known for their light-biting stealth and delicious fillets, Walleye are a rewarding target for anglers of all experience levels—and Jay knows just where and how to catch them.

During February through April, you’ll fish the Columbia River Gorge near Rufus, Oregon, using light tackle techniques like jigging, trolling plugs, or running
nightcrawlers behind bottom walkers. These early-season trips offer a shot at some of the biggest Walleye of the year, staging in the river for the spawn.

Not a fan of early mornings? Try Walleye fishing on the Willamette River in July. This laid-back, warm-weather fishery offers light fishing pressure, stunning scenery, bald eagles and a chance to sleep in and still catch fish. It’s perfect for families and new anglers, with calm conditions, good action, and regular visits from birds of prey to keep things exciting between bites.

Jay’s trips are all about making your day on the water enjoyable, productive, and stress-free. He provides the boat, the gear, and the know-how—you just bring your license, lunch, and a cooler (left in your vehicle) for your catch.

Whether you’re chasing trophy Walleye in the Gorge or enjoying a relaxed summer day closer to town, book your trip now and let Captain Jay show you why Walleye are one of the Northwest’s most underrated game fish.

Having led professionally licensed and insured fishing trips in Oregon since 2003, I own and operate clean comfortable, properly maintained boats in good repair, high end rods and reels, the best safety gear available.

Expect me to show up prepared and on time with plenty of the best bait and tackle available. I’ll have water and a light boat snack on board. I have the skills and experience to assure a safe, fun and productive day on the water.

I
started fishing with my dad when I was just a kid. As busy as he was, he always made the effort to get the family outdoors. Since then I’ve had amazing and unforgettable experiences fly fishing for trout and steelhead drifting our local rivers. Steelhead fishing, got me into salmon fishing with conventional gear.Living in the Pacific Northwest, the different fisheries we can participate in are numerous. As I became more proficient in our local fisheries, I was looking for the next challenge. Leading trips and sharing my experiences seemed like a natural progression.

My early career dealt with Industrial electronics controlling processes. I secured an early retirement in order to pursue my fishing passions. Hunting is one of my hobbies as well.

I look forward to meeting you!
