About Your Trip

Step outside, slow down, and experience the quiet beauty of northern New Hampshire’s rivers and mountain streams with Rebecca as your guide. These walk-and-wade fly fishing trips are designed to immerse you in the landscape while building real skill and confidence on the water.

Rebecca guides on the headwaters of the Connecticut River and nearby freestone streams of the White Mountains, including the Ammonoosuc. These waters offer a mix of wild and stocked trout in
a setting that ranges from gentle and accessible to lightly rugged and off the beaten path.

Trips are well suited for beginners as well as experienced anglers with who want to deepen their understanding of the river. Throughout the day, Rebecca provides patient, tailored instruction in casting, reading water, fly selection, and presentation—helping anglers feel more comfortable and capable wherever they fish next.

On smaller streams, guests may stalk native brook trout in clear, intimate water. Larger rivers offer opportunities for browns, rainbows, and larger brook trout, with the potential for memorable fish in the right conditions.

More than anything, these days are about settling into the rhythm of the river—moving quietly through the water, noticing currents, insects, and wildlife, and leaving the pace of everyday life behind. Rebecca brings a strong knowledge of the region’s natural history and is an experienced birder, adding another dimension for those who enjoy the broader landscape.

Whether you’re learning the fundamentals or refining your approach, these guided trips offer a relaxed, engaging way to experience some of New England’s most beautiful waters.

Rebecca is also happy to suggest local accommodations and activities for guests and their families in the western White Mountains region.

Independent Guide
Rebecca has fished the rivers of northern New Hampshire for over two decades and knows these waters and surrounding wild places intimately. She approaches fly fishing as a way to slow down, engage the senses, and step into the rhythms of the river—while, of course, catching fish.

She works comfortably with anglers who are new to fly fishing as well as those with some experience looking to build confidence and deepen their understanding of the water. Her focus is on
creating an unhurried, supportive day where guests can develop real skill—whether that means learning fundamentals, refining technique, or exploring less-traveled water in search of wild fish.

Introduced to fishing as a teenager by her father, Rebecca understands how intimidating fly fishing can feel at first—the gear, the knots, the language. She is known for her patient, grounded teaching style and her ability to meet people where they are, helping anglers feel at ease and steadily grow in both skill and confidence.

Experienced anglers value her local knowledge and her thoughtful approach to reading water, currents, and trout behavior on these rivers.

Beyond guiding, Rebecca is a writer, mountaineering historian, and long-time civic leader in New Hampshire. When she’s not on the water, she can be found trail running year-round with her dogs, tending a too-large garden, and exploring the mountains she knows well.

Rapid Fire Guide Q & A

What’s the biggest fish you’ve caught?
a 30-pound redfish off the coast of Louisiana
If you were cooking for all your friends what would you cook?
In winter: a big pot of African-spiced winter squash and kale - both from my garden - with locally smoked kielbasa;; crusty locally made bread; local Vermont and NH cheeses, locally made crackers, and local (Vermont and/or NH) double IPA (or NA beer good European ones or from Maine) and/or a robust red wine, probably Portuguese or Spanish. Dessert: ice cream from Super Secret, our local James Beard-nominated ice cream shop! Summer: same except local sausage and burgers made with local beef on my grill.

What’s your favorite sports team?

What was your last halloween costume?

What do you want for Christmas this year?
Some cash to help pay for my fishing excursion to Iceland
How did you get started guiding?
I’ve always been drawn to helping people get outside and feel comfortable building their skills and confidence. A few years ago when my summers opened up a bit, I began guiding as a way to share what I’ve learned about fly fishing and the rivers I know well. I enjoy watching people gain confidence, settle into the pace of the water, and leave the rest of the world behind for a while.
What makes you different from other guides?
I offer a limited number of trips each season in the western White Mountains of NH where I’ve spent many years fishing and exploring. My approach is patient and instructional, focused on helping anglers build real confidence while also slowing down enough to notice the rhythms of the river - its flow, the insects, and other clues about where fish may be and their behavior. It’s a relaxed, immersive experience — not just about catching fish, but understanding the environment. Guests learn how to read the river and leave with skills they can carry forward.

Everything Else to Know

Guests need their own wading gear including boots (studded preferred) and waders; wading staff or hiking pole highly recommended; prefer that guests bring own rods/reel/line - some may be available if necessary; lunch is not provided but I carry some snacks and hot drinks if weather appropriate; guests bring own water; we also recommend bringing polarized sunglasses, sunscreen, bug dope, weather-appropriate clothing. Guests are encouraged to bring their own leaders/tippet (4x - 5x) and flies, as part of the experience is building confidence and competence with your own gear and making fly choices (we of course also have flies). "Average" physicality/exertion in this region may include rocks and boulders, fast water, and hills. Some trail walking typical and occasional bushwhacking. And a far as beer is concerned, not while fishing, but great when we're done!
You'll need to buy a fishing license before getting out there. Find out more about licenses here.
We use a cashless autopay system. We'll send you a boarding pass, and on the day of the trip, your guide will scan your boarding pass to automatically transfer the remaining balance. The only cash needed is to tip your guide (we recommend 20%).
Cancel for free up to 14 days before the trip and receive credit back to your account. Cancelling within 14 of the trip will forfeit your deposit to the guide. Day-of cancellations and no-shows will be charged the full balance of the trip to their card.
In the event of inclement weather you'll be covered by out 100% Weather Guarantee and will not lose your deposit.
