About Your Trip

The nearshore waters off Port Canaveral are some of the most diverse and exciting fishing grounds on Florida's Atlantic Coast, and Captain Eric knows exactly how to make the most of every hour out there. This 5-hour nearshore trip aboard a 22-foot center console puts your group on a rotating cast of hard-fighting species that keeps the action fresh and unpredictable from start to finish.

Eric targets whatever is showing up and feeding on any
given day, and the species list off Port Canaveral is as impressive as it gets in the nearshore zone. Tarpon are the crown jewel of the Florida inshore and nearshore fishery, renowned for their acrobatic jumps and raw power on light to medium tackle. Tripletail, Cobia, and Kingfish round out a topwater and mid-water lineup that demands attention and rewards quick reflexes. Redfish, Jack Crevalle, and Sharks add variety and muscle to the mix, and Eric stays tuned in to seasonal patterns to make sure your group is always targeting what is most active and most accessible on the day of your trip.

Heavy tackle spinning gear combined with live and dead bait gives every angler on board the best possible presentation for whatever species Eric is dialed in on, and his ability to read the water, the current, and the bait activity off Port Canaveral consistently puts his clients in the right place at the right time.

Fuel, fishing licenses, rods, reels, lures, bait, a cooler, and ice are all included so your group can show up and focus entirely on fishing. Guests are encouraged to bring sunscreen, polarized sunglasses, a hat, and enough food and drinks for the duration of the trip. Depending on the time of year, rain or cold weather gear is worth throwing in the bag as well.

Book your nearshore trip with Captain Eric today and come experience the variety and excitement that the Atlantic waters off Port Canaveral deliver season after season.

My First memories of fishing were with my Grandpa. I used to spend every summer at my grandparents’ house fishing off their dock, and it was here that I caught my first redfish. Ever since that day, my “hobby” of fishing has turned into an obsession.

When I was in college, I spent almost all of my free time fishing. At first, it just started as me fishing alone, but as more and more of my friends started to see
what I was catching, I soon started to take more and more of my friends out fishing. It was one of those same friends who planted the idea in my head about doing what I really loved and taking others fishing for a living. And as soon as I graduated college, I did! I started my business right after graduating and purchased my first boat to guide clients.

It has since been 15 years now, and even though many things have changed, many still remain the same. What remains the same is both my passion for fishing and the experience of sharing that with others. Being able to share the experience of someone either catching their first fish, biggest fish, or just having a great day on the water and showing them something new is awesome thing, and I'm very grateful to take part in that with so many of my clients.

So what has changed? The fish! When I first started my business, I mainly only fished for inshore species, but in the last decade I guess you could say that I've also gotten "slightly obsessed" with going deeper and farther offshore in search of BIGGER and BADDER fish. Because of this, the boats have also changed. Or let's just say, I've added a couple more!
