About Your Trip

Head out on Lake Ontario with Captain Jarod for a day of trolling one of the Great Lakes' premier salmon and trout fisheries. Departing from Mexico Bay, these trips put you in a prime position to chase hard-fighting King Salmon, Coho Salmon, Lake Trout, Brown Trout, and Steelhead as the bite changes throughout the season.

Captain Jarod and his mate will handle the spread aboard a spacious 30' Trojan, using proven Lake Ontario trolling techniques
to find active fish. Depending on the time of year and where the fish are holding, you'll work different depths and areas of the lake with a combination of downriggers, divers, and other trolling setups.

Spring typically brings excellent opportunities for Brown Trout and Lake Trout closer to shore. As the water warms and summer patterns develop, the action shifts toward deeper water, with Steelhead and Lake Trout in the mix and Lake Ontario's famous King and Coho Salmon becoming major targets. Later in the season, mature salmon begin staging closer to shore around Mexico Bay ahead of their fall spawning runs.

Whether you're an experienced Great Lakes angler or stepping aboard for your first salmon trip, Captain Jarod and his mate will work to make the day comfortable, productive, and easy to enjoy. The 30' Trojan provides plenty of room to fish while giving the crew a capable platform for covering water and staying on the bite.

Come prepared with weather-appropriate clothing, food and drinks for the day, and your New York fishing license. After the trip, fish cleaning can be handled at the local fish house for an additional $3 per fish.

Please note: The mate works hard throughout the trip setting lines, managing gear, helping land fish, and keeping everything running smoothly. Mates work for tips, and a 20% gratuity is customary for good service.

If you've never felt a Lake Ontario King Salmon take off with a trolling rod, this is your chance to experience one of the Northeast's most exciting freshwater fisheries.

My wife and I had a great time salmon fishing on Lake Ontario with Captain Jarod and his tireless mate Johnny. It was our first trip to the area and they explained the equipment and techniques and made it easy. The boat was comfortable on a cold Saturday morning. Johnny made sure we landed the fish we hooked so we came away with fish for the freezer.
